I see what they mean about some CG’s letting their friends get away with murder. It’s not a good advert when you’re a newbie, getting abused by 2 regs because they think you’re someone else and then the CG refusing to do anything because they don’t know you!
Moreover, I have experienced firsthand the idiotic racist comments / jokes made by some.
It’s not commonplace but it happens – some “fights” in the room result in a CG being called (not sure how) but sadly with racist jokes and language no such action is taken.
I’m not a prude but I strongly object to the words “n****r” and “p**is” being repeatedly typed in the room and the vile racism of some.
Moreover, I’m not sure what to make of ppl’s “apathy” towards it. What does their silence mean?

I totally understand where you are coming from in your post Panda. It’s the very reason I will not go into the rooms anymore. And some may say well you let them win if you stay away. I say I will not degrade myself anymore by staying there and being abused. It’s a choice to go into the rooms or not and I choose not to be in there with some vile dreggs of society.
I absolutely agree with the main thrust of this post. Offensive and / or racist comments made by chatters can and will never be ‘accepted’.
That said, preventing it is an entirely different matter altogether. Unfortunately for the 99.9% of reasonable users there is the occasional ‘nasty’ or disruptive user who absolutely revels in the attention they get (in the way of outrage) from other room users every time they type in their unpleasant comments etc.
Indeed some of this tiny minority deliberately set out to goad other users with their comments as a way of getting attantion. They are like the unruly child at school who cannot cope with lessons and therefore sets out to be as disruptive as possible so as to mask their inadequacy.

I find it appalling that certain so called chatters ( who dont chat, just abuse) are allowed to get away with their behaviour repeatedly.
We are told ” use your iggy button”. This is nonsense. The iggy button is there for “numpties” and scrollers etc. The chat guides are supposed to deal with abusers.
It is not just racist abuse , which i personally find extremely offensive, but personal abuse is equally appalling. Certain Chat Guides simply refuse to act.
However, i would like to say that there are also some very good chat guides who truly do their best.
I used to eve, (you also get people running to MSN asking can you please come eject so and so) I used to warn them then boot them if they didnt stop
I agree with Eve …. unfortunately these idiots come into chat when the guides are not about and leave just as the guides log in, so yes its difficult to ban them but the ones that are banned seem to be back in no time at all. So the only solution is to leave, especially as Panda said the general “silence” from other members seems to give the green light for the abuser to carry on.
