I fail to see the funny side of this Scep. Unless you thought Somer and Trapper where taking the cheap wine out of human suffering?? – your wrong they weren’t.

However your pic is wasted here as we all know that child could still be alive if the father was not selfish and put his family at risk by moving with the Illegals, Migrants and Refugees.

There was no need for this family to leave home – its the fathers fault his child is dead and you posting the pic just looks ignorant to these facts.

How in hell do you know that?

The mother of the child drowned too. So did his sister.

They were fleeing a warzone- they were refugees

It’s the pic which turned the conscience of anyone who was civilised.

He’s not a refugee his family are from Lebanon. They moved to Syria for work a few years ago. He could have moved home but instead tried to move across Europe with the genuine refugees – he was just a Economic migrant – just like thousands of Irish and British from the past couple of years.

There was a chance to return home but he chose not to, he chose to travel by boat to Europe to get free dental care – this has been confirmed by the news.

Your still missing the point of this thread thought, no one was slagging off anyone.

well out of order putting that pic on :(

a Syrian child, fleeing from a war zone.

The pic that shamed anyone with a conscience. Cameron into accepting 20,000 refugees

And the point is what you miss…

a right-wing hate thread about babies was developing here, imho, disguised as humour.

A reminder of the genuine suffering caused by our war policy is a right antidote.

I believe Cameron is wrong. He is breeding hate between existing residents and those who are not being screened to come into YOUR Country and take housing, medical services etc over EXISTING RESIDENTS.

France is not a war zone, they are out of Syria and in Europe. Britain and Ireland can NOT afford these people.

Your constant typing of: “The pic that shamed anyone with a conscience”. – means nothing. Anyone who sees the news and is not effected is wrong, but being SHAMED into anything is also wrong.

Look at the ads on Telly right now, children starving and being abused in YOUR own Country now and instead of investing money to stop it, Cameron is now being SHAMED into forgetting them and taking on other people who are in FRANCE and the rest of EUROPE.

Have all the Rochdale rapists being stopped?? Want more rapists in your Country – without proper screening how can you say they are ALL refugees???

Again reports say they were on a boat out of Turkey not Syria.. I also didnt see anyone mocking the child’s death or any other refugee deaths, Terrorists are using children as suicide bombers but a 2 yr old drowned so don’t mock the use of children ?
We are not responsible for the hacking off of heads the mass slaughter by both muslim sects, the use of chemicals etc, we may have precipitated conflict by arming one side or the other but the barbarity is down to those inflicting it and it’s that barbarity that is making people flee en mass

and ‘shock and awe”, as the war against Iraq was termed by the US and UK military commanders, isn’t barbarism??

I give way to nobody on my revulsion against ISIS, and the terrible suffering they cause.

But it’s a right-wing hate thread developing here, and the suffering of refugees is a rightful antidote.

We should show ourselves a bit better than ISIS in our reactions, and that means rejecting the xenophobia and hate-filled tripe we’ve seen on these boards when it comes to refugees.

Kids are kids – you don’t divide them into our country’s kids and other countries’ kids, in my opinion. Kids are kids, and need protection from war, whether launched by us or by ISIS.

The picture is a good antidote to a xenophobic hate-thread

I’m not “arguing” I’m saying that this thread isn’t neccesarily xenophobic..least I hope that wasn’t the intention, I agree with scep up to a point, but hate filled ?
The refugee subject has it’s own thread, I don’t think this thread was aimed at refugees though it did attempt to poke fun at Muslims, thats allowed surely even if an individual doesn’t find it funny. Would anyone have objected if it had been Christians were the butt of the jokes ?

Their aunt Teema Kurdi, a hairdresser in Vancouver, heard the news from her brother Mohammad’s wife, Ghuson. “She had got a call from Abdullah, and all he said was, my wife and two boys are dead,” she told the National Post.

“I was trying to sponsor them, and I have my friends and my neighbours who helped me with the bank deposits, but we couldn’t get them out, and that is why they went in the boat.

“I was even paying rent for them in Turkey, but it is horrible the way they treat Syrians there.”

Rented accomadation in Turkey according to his aunt, still a very sad, tragic and emotive picture just wasn’t needed on this thread in my opinion
