In short, he’s a nice guy who is given and accepts total power and uses it for the good of his pack, nothing else.

Oo. Like (nearly) every child’s conception of their dad.

Or like the 50s nuclear family, so beloved in American tv sitcoms even today.

But kids grow up and realise that their parents are just human. A terrible realisation, for which the parents are never fully forgiven.

A nice guy given total power? Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely, as Acton said.

Hitler and Churchill were alpha males in their very different ways. Neither had absolute power (whatever the claims were made in Germany). Neither were that nice, but is anybody who is given absolute power very nice?

A lot of illusions about alpha males among people here – in my humble opinion.

never, never give absolute power to anybody, and particularly not an alpha-male.

Isn’t it interesting how people can read the same text, yet interpret it completely differently.

Yup….but that doesn’t mean we should slate anyone….just merely say….blah blah blah….and the reply can be blah blah blah…..no need to be heated over it…..

it always always boil down to who posts what to how its taken…admit it or not

Scep I did put earlier in this thread….until I was made to think about alpha male I did think he would be a total c***….but having read peoples posts….yes I agree the modern day Alpha would be a completely different type of person

Old people don’t like change and Sceppy poohs is a good example ………………………………………………………runs………………….hang on…..I can walk he wont be able to catch up anyway :rose:

    Ge

Indeed it is Secret, you did though make an interesting comment, (can’t recall if it was on this thread) some people can talk about their lives or give their opinion etc and it will pass completely under the radar, yet others who make a similar comment or give a similar opinion and will immediately be pounced upon by the pack. I find it interesting how status is awarded online and how others communicate with those they deem to have lower status, or higher status. (because it is amplified and so more easily recognizable).

For example, the ‘length’ someone has been a member of a particular site, quite often gives them more status than someone who hasn’t got that “time served” status behind them. I find it interesting because offline a teacher of 30 years, quite often has more status than the newbie just out of uni, but it doesn’t necessarily make that 30 year teacher, a better teacher and a similar same pattern appears online.

In reverse, a long time site member online can be the most obnoxious pig going and accepted as someone with status, by the pack, due to “time served” but that same behavior would never be tolerated offline.

Just experimenting with my thoughts by the way.

    Hmmmm…

I posted before , Ms K, I am younger than you as well as older…

    And I can run fast..realty..if I wanted to run after you…which I don’t..

But age has nothing to do with this argument, any more than race or gender has.. It’s just as disgusting to use age as it is to use race or gender when assessing someone’s view.

The older alpha male would push a spear in your mouth until it came out of the back of your head, and it would all be done in the interests of his pack.

The modern apha would give you a killer punch, in the interests of his pack.

Nothing to make an alpha (modern or ancient) a total c##t, unless it was need in the interests of his pack.

Nothing to make him (modern or ancient) a nice guy, except to his pack. As long as his pack obeys numero uno.

You can be old, white, blcak, man, woman and wrong, or young, white black, man, woman,  and wrong. The point is to show how you’re wrong.

To pick up on earlier points, Scep is definitely wrong in his fixation with Alpha males being of a violent disposition. Yes of course some Alpha males are violent, equally so, non Alpha or Beta males are violent, more so infact. Alpha males do not have a monopoly on violence, far from it.

So, back to basics, I’d like to pick up on something no-one has mentioned yet, which is fundamental in understanding an Alpha male. Sex. When we look at other primates, we see how the Alpha male is generally the only one getting it, or, if not the only one, he’s getting plenty of it. It’s not possible to be an Alpha male and not be consistently “getting plenty of it” So an important association with an Alpha male is he is “getting plenty of it”. This in itself implies he’s more calmer and less aggressive, than those that aren’t “getting it”. As the Alpha male is “getting plenty”, he is therefore of a naturally calmer disposition, than the Beta male who isn’t “getting it” or “getting enough” of it. Thus, the Beta male is, or can be (sexually) “frustrated” compared to the Alpha male and therefore a lot more prone to violence. Many studies will confirm this.

Furthermore, Beta males heavily outnumber Alpha males, so again there’s the maths to show how Beta males are more violent than Alpha males.

In Swedish prisons they insist men have visits from partners, and / or prostitutes, to make sure they get “enough” of it for the calming and less aggressive effect sex has on them. Testosterone and all that.

To recognise who is an Alpha male today is impossible if you dont know whether the individual is “getting plenty of it” or is even sexually frustrated. Alpha males generally speaking, do not go without sex and become sexually frustrated.

To say Hitler or Churchill were Alpha males is not possible without having good insight into their sex lives.

To conclude, my point, real Alpha males are too busy getting laid to be “pushing a spear in your mouth until it came out of the back of your head,” that’ll be the Beta male that is more likely doing that due to his sexual frustrations and pent up aggression and anger.

I guess you aren’t ”getting enough” then ……. ;-)
