So you’re saying police shouldn’t use interpreters.

Im not tierd, i just want a yawn emotive for this comment.

A, we shouldn’t have the mass asylum issue.
B, we shouldn’t be paying upto £66 ph to speak to them.
Ipso facto, this government is WASTING alot of tax paying, hard working, law abidding people’s money.

If you could vote so that the money spent on interpreting asylum seekers words, is spent more directly on what benefits your life, would you?

Interpreters can earn a lot of money because they have specialist skills. sometimes the police will need to question people who don’t speak English. Let’s say a Croatian tourist who barely speaks any English gets robbed in Leicester Sq. What are the police supposed to do in that situation if they can’t communicate with the victim?

YOUR MISSING THE POINT, if we didnt have the asylum nightmare, then we wouldn’t have our taxes wasted at £33 – £66 per hour…

    Do you understand?

WTF does asylum have to do with a tourist getting robbed in Leicester Sq. What kind of imbecile are you? Do you think translators and interpreters exist only to work with asylum seekers? One way in which they are used is to assist the police with people who don’t speak English. People with specialist skills who do a specialist job earn more money than the average person. Asylum or no asylum they would still charge the same fee for their services. Do you think they charge more for interpreting the words of asylum seekers than they do for interpreting the words of, let’s say, a foreign nun who got knocked down in a hit and run?

As for Geoff’s comment that people should be fluent in a language before they travel to a country. How many British tourists could deal with foreign police without an interpreter? How many languages do you speak Geoff? If you can only speak English then I assume you have never left the UK seeing as you’re so opposed to people travelling to foreign countries without learning the language.

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT THE MONEY WASTED USING INTERPRETERS VIA ASYLUM SEEKERS AND REFUGEES, AS STATED IN THE FIRST POST.

Tomorrow when you wake up, just give your head a slight tap.

She’s not on about people travelling – Emma is on about people coming over here to sponge off the state – how do they expect to get a job if they don’t speak the language Yet we go out of our way providing interpreters at up to £66 an hour – it’s crazy – I agree with everything Emma and Geoff have said on this thread
The next step is putting them up in 4 or 5 star hotels until we can find some rent free accomodation for them and that happens too frequently
we are a soft touch !!!

….and what may I ask is the problem with that??? The poor buggers have to live somewhere. We ought not to be putting them up in some third rate rat infested doss house, what would that say about British hospitality???

No, they should be given accomodation that is the equal of the living standards they enjoyed in their country of origin ….. and a 4 or 5 star UK hotel should just about be that standard.

Oh, and they wouldn’t need interpreters as most hotel staff originate from third world countries and could therefore speak the language of the asylum seekers.

Sorry PB you’re right of course – where’s my sense of British hospitality – my apologies to any immigrants reading

If we close the borders to asylum seekers, refugees and mass immigration, we can spend more of OUR money on US.

Do you wana continue being a soft touch? If so, keep voting new conservatives, lib dems, new nazi labour, the greens, respect or even the multicultural EDP (English democrat party).

If you want society to look like you, behave like you, think like you, WORK FOR YOU, then vote for the England first party, England independance party, BNP, SNP.

    Get involved, make a difference.

I expect Emma that your BNP have a final solution to the problem of immigrants and asylum seekers. Put them up in ”holiday camps” for a while. They could even name these camps after well known historical ones like Belsen, Dachau, and Auschwitz.
