When I left school I had no idea what profession I wanted to follow but I got a job working in Blackwells book shop in Oxford – so any programs of Morse or Lewis have a sentimental meaning to me. And for anyone who knows Oxford I used to play football for the Randolph Hotel
Later on I worked in Maastricht when the treaty was signed – pain in the rear end getting to work while all the EU leaders caused the roads to be blocked
These days living in France I now teach English to French business people which is nice but I have the best contract ever in that I teach English to someone who is the Maitre de Chai – basically the chief wine taster to a whole group of co-operatives along the Loire Valley. It is a really difficult job when you have to taste various wines and return home with a bottle to sample but someone has to do it
Am I fortunate in my job choice or not ;)
Sounds good to me, but, then it would wouldn’t it?! lol
I have my perfect job – I teach swimming to the locals’ kids – I can get up whenever I like and take the lessons whenever I like too! Not only that it is is easy sun-tanning and excercise to boot! :D
25 June, 2012 at 9:39 am #499852Trapped me?! oh yeah……………..2 hrs in a rickoty lift with boss, all 17 stone of him. It was only allowed 3 people at a squeeze anyway! The lift stuck half way to our floor and the shaft – he managed to squidge the door open a cm and stick his mobile antanae (those were the days eh?!) out, and call 999 for the fire-bregade to come out and crow bar us out! It really didn’t help me much when he kept jumping up and down to get it to do something – I seriously now have claustrophobia because of it, and it took two of the chaps to get me out as I was curled up in a ball, absolutely terrified. Wouldn’t wish that experience on my morst enemy!
To add insult to injury a woman had turned up for a meeting and was hilariously laughing at us being stuck in there – well, I can tell you the tea she asked for when we eventually got out, must have tasted disgusting 8)
25 June, 2012 at 9:33 am #499851When I was getting married, unaware that the ring my hubby used to wear on his left hand, was going to be on his right, also unaware that he hadn’t tried it on first – I refused to marry him until I got it on – was quite funny at the time, apparently it wasn’t afterwards as he had to get it off to take it to a jewellers to make it bigger, but with a lot of soap and a good friend they managed it – looked really sore, but at least he got his blood circulation going again!

The Irish are actually non drinking, non gambling bores who hate potatoes and couldn’t write a book if their life depended on it.
They also have a potential world cup winning football team, regularly beat New Zealand at rugby and dislike singing (unless it’s “God Save The Queen”).
They have an annoying habit of saying “Bottom of the evening to ya ” and are allergic to the colour green.
So much for stereotyping.
Feckin Paddies!!ahhhhhhhhhhh for the Guiness though ‘cos that just gotta be classed as non-drinking! :D

23 June, 2012 at 9:10 pm #499643Bear with me…………I had a ferral cat that came in through my bedroom window, when I was asleep, raided my kitchin bin, (I did wonder how my dog had licked the butter off the saucer without smashing it on the ground!) so I was telling my very good alarm call of a dog NOT (who hates cats) off for going into the bin, of which he has never done before, until after the 4th day, I caught the cat with a plastic bag, dragging it through my bedroom (it had the leftovers from a casserole I had frozen, in it). I felt dreadful for telling my dog orf for 4 days!!!! I reckon he must have thought it was me floundering around in the middle of the night – no need to comment on that please!
I love both cats and dogs, but my dog is for me now for, hopefully, a few more years anyway! Guarding, or not, as the case maybe! :D
23 June, 2012 at 8:58 pm #499733ohhhhhhhhhh – never heard of him! oh well, I was slanting to the 20th Century Fox
