22 April, 2006 at 9:01 am #210437Bat I’m sure your not stupid, fears are irrational but it doesn’t make them any less frightening to the person that fears them/it…. I feel for anyone who has a genuine fear of something xxxx
I have a fear of heights, I tried to combat it a few yrs back one Christmas, I had been askin my hubby to get the decorations down from the loft for days, which he hadn’t, so I thought to myself “ok, they’re just up in the loft, there’s a perfectly safe ladder, you’ll be just fine, you can do it” so up I went, I gingerly collected all the decorations but froze when it was time to come down the ladder, I came out in a sweat and started shaking, and to look down the ladder made me feel physically sick, basically I was stuck there until my Mum helped me down, I felt so stupid and don’t think I’ll ever conquer that fear

Tommy you sound to me as it you are belittling the seriousness of this situation. Either that or you watch too much tv. Many many donors are needed to keep ordinary people alive. (Take this from one that knows).
Angel i hope all goes well for your sis and her mum. Shes very lucky she has a live donor who is a match. As you said it is indeed a gift of life.
Some are not in this situation and have to rely on cadaver donations.
Organ donation has to be one of the most selfless actions known and people should be proud to carry the card.Thank you Chess, it’s a very long, drawn out process that’s been going on for quite sometime now, it’s been brought forward as my sister’s kidney deteriorated, and yes, she’s very lucky that her mum was a match, we wouldn’t have been cos we’re only ‘half’ sisters, tho I don’t think I cud of been brave enuf to donate a live kidney, it’s an agonising decision, but I guess as a parent you will do wotever u can for ur child, she’s ok tho at the moment, she works full time and leads a ‘normal’ ish life, they’re hoping that the transplant will take place sometime over the next 6 months……….thanks for ur well wishes xx
