I know of 3 lads who joined the infantry all around the same age (18 ), within 6months of doing basic training and joining a regiment, they was in afghanistan. It seemed shocking to me that they would send these kids to a place where they could be literally fighting for there their lives. And how much can you prepare someone to fight for their lives in a matter of months? But that’s British Forces for you, to$$ers, i have family in the forces and they all want out cos its ridiculous and they dont have faith in what they are being sent out to do in these places across the world in the name of peace and war on terror.
When you take into consideration not only are they sometimes fighting for their lives, but the effect mentally it will eventually have on them, it sometimes suprises me anyone would want to sign up. But young kids these days are blinded by the promise of a whirl wind life style, travel the world, see many things blah blah have a great life. They forget to mention go and fight for your life in a country with substandard equipment for something thats bullsh!t, see mutilated men women and children and if you ever get married put major mental strains on your loved ones and have postings to places where nothing happens and you forced to live in sh!tty accomodation.
