I see the real environmental problem being that fossil fuels are running out. At least that means that any global warming will be limited as we are forced to run down our consumption!
Now they’re talking about building MORE gas-fired power stations. When they decided in the 80’s to build lots of ‘clean’ gas-fired power stations, that resulted in our North Sea gas reserves being used up at twice the rate previously predicted.
Now we need to import natural gas from Russia, the Gulf and the Far east and still they talk about building more gas-fired power stations. That seems crazier than any talk of building new nuclear ones!!
16 April, 2006 at 10:38 pm #209783I doubt if the figure is as high as 8 out of 10 but the BNP could be experiencing what happened with Ian Paisley’s DUP in Northern Ireland. The DUP was seen as the hard-line wing of unionism but as the mainstream unionists sat down to tea with Sinn Feinn-IRA, loyalist voters deserted them and flocked to the DUP which is now the biggest party representing unionists.
Also Hamas was elected the in Palestian territories and in Venezuela a far-left socialist leader, Chavez, has been elected. So it’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that we could see a BNP led council somewhere in the future.

9 March, 2006 at 11:55 pm #202490I like the one where Paul and Barry get to play bingo and when they win they choose the caller’s bingo ball machine as their prize. The caller lets them have it just to get rid of them. On the way home they leave it outside a cafe where the very short-sited chef mistakes it for a new cooker he’s expecting to be delivered. He plugs it in and puts a meal in it to cook. The result is an explosion……………..comic genius!!!
9 March, 2006 at 11:48 pm #202489Don’t the Chuckle Brothers come from Rotherham? I have to confess I find them much funnier than some sitcoms meant for grown-up viewers!!!!!
To me…to you…to me….d-d-d-d-doh! Now look what you’ve done!
This probably says something about my individualism!!!!

3 March, 2006 at 3:43 pm #200279People who insist on standing right next to you and talking while eating noisily!
People who habitually sing along to any music they hear including jingles on the radio and TV.
Old people in supermarkets who get in the way while comparing two identical jars of Nescafe to see which is best.
14 February, 2006 at 4:08 pm #196829Haven’t you heard we’re not allowed to celebrate Valentine’s any more? Muslims are rioting in India and burning piles of Valentine goods. Even some Hindus are joining in. I kid you not.

!eyb12 February, 2006 at 11:35 pm #196136Hadn’t thought of that one, LOL, though I had thought of the ‘little black dress’ connotations. Fortunately I am quite slim and I’ve still got a hint of last summer’s tan left!
Slimmer and blacker actually meant a Dell with a slimline monitor!!
