“White working class voters are being “tempted” by the British National Party as they feel Labour is not listening to their concerns, a minister has said.

Employment minister Margaret Hodge said the BNP could win seats in her Barking constituency in May’s council polls.

She told the Sunday Telegraph many constituents were angry at the lack of housing and asylum seekers being housed in the area by inner London councils.

The BNP said Labour were ignoring fears over “mass immigration” to the UK

Mrs Hodge said: “They can’t get a home for their children, they see black and ethnic minority communities moving in and they are angry.”

Mrs Hodge told the paper she has been out campaigning two days a week in an attempt to counter the BNP efforts.

She has found that as many as eight out of 10 white families admit they are tempted to vote BNP.

In last year’s general election the BNP polled third in Barking, east London, receiving 17% of the vote.

“That’s something we have never seen before, in all my years. Even when people voted BNP they used to be ashamed to vote BNP,” she said.

Mrs Hodge said the “poorest whites” feel the greatest anger “because there is no way out for them”.

“The Labour Party hasn’t talked to these people,” she added.

“Part of the reason they switch to the BNP is they feel no-one else is listening to them.”

She said the ethnic make-up of Barking had changed “so fast” from a predominantly white, working class area since she first became MP in 1994.

“That is the key thing that has created the environment the BNP has sought to exploit,” she said.

The BNP said the party had been demonised by the “far left” for talking about immigration.

BNP spokesman Dr Phil Edwards said: “People are being tempted by the BNP because Labour and the Tories don’t have any inclination to debate the effect of mass immigration on communities in Britain.

He went on: “In a democracy we should have all opinions. We should debate whether mass immigration is a good thing.”

Quite a staggering thing for new labour to finally admit. Its the kind of thing they’ve been failling to admit for years, prefering to ignore the people there suppossed to represent, in favour of their sesspit multicultural disaster.

New labour and their old gang colleagues in the tory and lib dem parties have turned the corner of realisation. It is a matter of time before people in other parts of England say the same thing, and the short term ideology of the old gang will not be able to cope with mass disatisfaction.

Short term policy leads to long term disaster. The political ideology of the old gang has always been short term, mainly for financial gain, regardless of the outcome in every day society.

Now the eventual media broadcast of disatisfaction has occured, and it demonstates the reason for state control of the disatisfied masses into a totalitarian state.

Oh, so Labour invented the multicultural society- history not a strong point then Emma

Thankfully, once the voters realise that underhand methods to field candidates makes them no better than anyone else, they’ll be yesterdays chip paper

I doubt if the figure is as high as 8 out of 10 but the BNP could be experiencing what happened with Ian Paisley’s DUP in Northern Ireland. The DUP was seen as the hard-line wing of unionism but as the mainstream unionists sat down to tea with Sinn Feinn-IRA, loyalist voters deserted them and flocked to the DUP which is now the biggest party representing unionists.

Also Hamas was elected the in Palestian territories and in Venezuela a far-left socialist leader, Chavez, has been elected. So it’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that we could see a BNP led council somewhere in the future.

BNP spokesman, Phil Edwards, was on the BBC today. He admitted. under pressure, that ideally the BNP would like to see all ethnic minority groups repatriated. Earlier on in the interview he rejected the idea that the BNP is a racist or Nazi party

I look forward to a post from emma that isn’t about racial and cultural differences

Like Bass, I think the eight out of ten cats stat is probably over hyped. I still think the tendency should be guarded against, though. Increasingly, I hear people mention their belief that all the mainstream political parties offer little real difference these days and it’s a valid point. Compare Blair and Cameron with Foot and Thatcher and consider the general decline in participation in elections. Extreme parties of all persuasions are apt to prey on this ennui.

Also, I reckon there are plenty of weasley quiet far right supporters. At least people like Emmalush have the courage of their convictions. There’s quite a few on these boards that sympathise with their views and don’t voice it as often.

Here’s something by the Tory leader David Cameron commenting on the BNP.

A further interesting point- The BNP have advised (via their website) that all discussions their members have about the BNP on the net should cease and remain “in house” because people are getting the “wrong idea” about the BNP.

I’d have to say trying to censor their own members is a classic, even for the BNP

When the BNP speak of nationalism, they mean ethnic cleansing..!!!!!

Thats not what their leader said yesterday. He said words to the effect of, we must stop immigration, and the populous should populate on a equal percentage.

So instead of the brainwashing liberal mass media telling you constant lies, how about learning the reality of what they believe in?
