10 November, 2016 at 8:24 pm #1008075Carping on about freedom is overdone – particularly in the United States, where you’d be forgiven for thinking there were no other free market democracies on the planet.

The best thing to do is dive in! The chat rooms are a different animal to the message boards. Use whichever you prefer (or both).
Give me a shout if I can be of any help!
9 November, 2016 at 8:38 pm #1007908I think the real point here is nobody knows what Trump will do. Will his policies be far more down the centre compared to the statements and policy claims he made during the electoral process? Will his craziest ideas and policy positions be reigned in by the constitutional checks and balances in the US political system? Who will he end up nominating for the Supreme Court?
There are a lot of unknowns here.
9 November, 2016 at 2:04 am #1007771VIP membership renews automatically until you cancel. To cancel, you just email me.
Yes, you can use PayPal. If you use PayPal you can even cancel the subscription through your PayPal account and avoid having to email me with your request ;)
VIP membership has no effect on how you appear in searches made on the site. Full privacy controls are available to all members via the Account Settings menu.
I believe that £4.99 per month works out to about $6.20 per month with the current exchange rate. The way the Pound is dropping against the dollar it’ll probably get cheaper over time for those paying with dollars.
8 November, 2016 at 11:38 pm #1007734As mentioned before, we’ve asked members if they want to see access to the chat rooms require registration. They didn’t want it. They clearly stated their desire to be able to choose the name of their choice without being forced to register and be limited to one chat name in perpetuity.
I see you started a feedback poll. That’s constructive. I’m happy to revisit this concept if enough people support such a major change to how the site works.
8 November, 2016 at 11:34 pm #1007731if you want to incorporate a charge then charge for other things on the site
What other things on the site do you think would be more appropriate for us to charge for?

8 November, 2016 at 9:22 pm #1007705If you’re a VIP member, your preferred chat name can’t be used by others.
If you feel we need more staff in the chat rooms, how about volunteering to be a Chat Guide?

8 November, 2016 at 9:21 pm #1007703One of the founding principles of Just Chat is allowing people to use the chat rooms without registering. Therefore, if a chat name isn’t password protected through VIP membership, any chat name can be used by any one.
We have polled members and visitors about changing this to require all users to register in order to chat (the only way to prevent chat names being used by others) but the results are always OVERWHELMINGLY in favour of not forcing registration in order to chat.
Therefore, chat names are not protected for visitors and chatters unless they have upgraded to VIP membership (which is optional).
