I privately rent, and pay a fortune for it.Even that was not easy i had to look for 7 months, there is even a shortage of privatly rented places.
I was also told by the council that as a single male with a job I will never get a place, there will always be someone more important.
Like DOA said back in the 80’s everyone I knew had a council home. What should have happened when they sold them of in the 80’s was to reinvest that money in more homes. Where I live they have 160 people a week register as homeless and they build 6 homes a month. That’s where the problem is.

You’re right they don’t need benefits but I’m based in London and the house prices are sky high (£200,000 for a 1 bed flat)so not everyone can afford to buy. I’m just sick of paying for everyone else :)
Maybe if there were more people paying rent for council accommodation then they could use that money to build more housing.

Then I would think if council tenants were to be forced to work and stop claiming housing benefit the same should (even though it will not) apply to private tenants as they are claiming ‘housing benefit’ too even if they are not living in council houses.

I think that’s a good point. I know someone who was on the housing list and because the local council didn’t have anywhere for her they told her to find a private flat and they would pay for it,£180 per week.

Do you also know that to be classed as homeless you have to be released from prison, left the armed forces or seeking asylum. they are the only reasons you can be classed as homeless. Having nowhere to live is not enough on it’s own, how mad is that !

I also think what Caroline Flint said would be a good tool to get rid of problem families.

Just one last thing, you say being on the list for 22 years shouldn’t entitle someone to a home. surely it cant be right that someone who was not even born when I first went on the list can beat me to a home ? Maybe the hard working people of this country should be put first for a change ?

Shouldn’t make no difference if your a single parent or not it doesn’t stop you from teaching the kids right from wrong. When i see the men some women are living with i think it would be better if the woman was on her own. Sometimes i think the women feel guilty that there isn’t a father around so they over compensate by spoiling their children and let them have what ever they want , result they end up growing up like spoilt brats.
I do think a young boy or girl needs some influence from the same sex but all the crime in this country cant be blamed on all the boys with no dads !
i also think some parents should stop using the children as tools to get back at ex partners and put the children first.
Maybe men should get more access to their sons, that might help a bit.

Prob is they all play around with the food, you got beef crisps with no meat products in them and chesse n onion with beef extracts in it. It must be a nightmare if you got an allergy. What the manufactorers should do is leave the bloody food alone, if a buy pork all i want is pork in it ! Not salt, water, stabilisers, E this and E that nuts, milk or any other crap they choose to pump in. All i can say is buy fresh if you can and prepare as much as you can at home :? I think most products say may contain nuts, or prepared in an area that may contain nuts prob dont, it’s just a cop out just incase soemone decides to sue them for what ever reason. Large supermarkets dont give a toss about you even thpugh they try to make you feel special buy giving you a loyalty card. They are not your friends they just want you money…….Rant over i’m going to lay down now !
