he said he was. His theory came unstuck.
He was a very good guy. His theory came unstuck because he disproved it himself. He was quite dismayed for a while, and then started looking at string theory to make the same point.
I can be a snotty know-it-all if you like but if you asked me to explain string theory you would get the following…[Read more]

Well, I think to say that his use of string theory was intellectually suspect would be arrogant – and, coming from me, absurd. I would never say it, of course.
He was not one of the great atheist thinkers, like Bertrand Russell. He was emotionally inclined to atheism.
He said that whether God existed or not could not be proved, but all that…[Read more]

I did get his name right.
It’s interesting that Hawking never seems to have taken an IQ test, and was very scathing about people who talked about IQ scores.

I don’t think anyone is doubting his intellect.
I’m wondering and asking about his lasting legacy.
His atheism is intellectually suspect, though I have more time for him than Dawkins.
It’s wrong to say that all the great minds are atheist.
In the Cambridge Science faculty, a majority believe in some sort of creator. In contrast, the…[Read more]

oh dear, rudeboy,
where did I claim that you did say that about the big bang theory?
It was a response to a couple of other posters.
Sorry to disappoint.
But I’d be more than happy to be enlightened about the lasting legacy. I’ sure you can google it and let us all know.
Lasting legacy, that is.

Hawkins did not invent the Big Bang theory
He worked with it. Sorry to disappoint.
Other scientists always said that A Brief History of Time was the most-sold and least-read book in scientific history.
He had a wonderful exploratory mind, but I’m not sure what is going to be left of lasting value in it all – apart from an ability to explain…[Read more]

well, the problem with that is that you get a crick in the neck; you can also step in some heavy duty dogshit.
No disrespect to the Prof, who was a vigorous supporter of the NHS and fierce opponent of Brexit.

thank you, hugs.
well, I’m sorry.
I did have some banter with him about John Wayne and the Lawwwwdd, but he enjoyed it.
But he also posted some iffy posts, and the latest trend which I tried to highlight in this thread was getting distinctly odd.

oh…
so
apart from that Mrs Lincoln
who got banned??
Or was that an in-joke?
-
sceptical guy replied to the topic killing the threads… in the forum Getting serious 8 years, 2 months ago
that link made me laugh, Ms M
So who’s been banned?
If they banned the lolololol guy just for having a weak bladder whenever he laughs at his own jokes, then I think that is just wrong.
