Thanks, Ge, for the BBC-style advice.
Personally, I had noticed how hot it was yesterday, and have seen the forecasts for today.
But I’m sure there are jcers who haven’t realised that it’s rather on the hot side at the moment.
omg!
A good question!! Two good questions!!!
is it the sun?
You might try to start here, though I’m sure we’ll…[Read more]

Part of Johnsons meet with the queen is to discuss his vision and intent. It’s interesting he still had confidence of reaching the 99 day deadline, it makes you wonder if the queen hinted at allowing prologue after all ,to push through no deal. I will admitted laugh hard if in 99 days he manages to do what gov haven’t in 3 years. To those doubting…[Read more]

Fantasy
The Communist Morning Star and some unions supported Brexit.
The overwhelming majority of the trade union movement – including Unite, the biggest – and the overwhelming majority of the Labour Party support membership and leadership passionately oppose no-deal.
Parliament is finely balanced on no-deal (probably)
but
if a coup against…[Read more]

Just to help you out,
that was the part which I stressed had no irony at all.

Agreed, there are no winners here.
If people stopped Brexit against the wishes of the people (and there’s no majority in Parliament for that), they would be destroyed at an election, and Brexit would be the end-result. That could eventually happen, but it’s not going to turn on whether you agree or not with Brexit as such.
It’s going to turn on…[Read more]

And that’s important.
Too often, especially when Brexit is being discussed, people tend to hate and ostracise people who disagree with them. It’s led to some real mental health problems in teh cuntry as a whole. This is as true of ‘Remoaners’ as it is of ‘Brexishytes’, but on jc there are precious few of the former.
Any argument which can cut…[Read more]

I think his not being Theresa may is going to stand him in good stead, maybe until early September.
He may be riding on a wave until then.
After that point all bets are off. It’s a minefield ahead.
If he negotiates it, gets the UK out of the EU with a deal and with the blessing of parliament, then he is set for an election landslide.
If…[Read more]

The dictionaries aren’t always so good at slang, though there are some slang additions.
Howell Cassie, in Examples of Slang, wrote
“In the early 1960s, dude became prominent in surfer culture as a synonym of guy or fella. The female equivalent was “dudette” or “dudess”. but these have both fallen into disuse and “dude” is now also used as a…[Read more]

ah well, welcome to our new wit.
Your definitions of dudes are a bit outdated.
The American use of the term is fast becoming accepted here.

Linda,
thanks for being serious about this subject of racism. That’s why I addressed it to you.
they’re quotations from Trump’s tweets which began this whole affair – I think they were made 10 days ago, and since then this has been like li’ Orphan Annie – kinda grown. They should be pretty easy to find?
Yes, nobody else has actually addressed…[Read more]

Sorry, I’m allowed to post on what interests me and I’ve yet to receive an answer.
The posts have degenerated into weird stuff like where did I live in Bristol, or that Donald Trump has similar economic policies to Jeremy Corbyn (weird! Corbyn is calling for a green New Deal, like the radical Congresswomen attacked by the racist pig so admired on…[Read more]

That’s great Linda
Anyway, maybe you or someone can explain to me.
When Trump’s racist goons were all chanting “send them home, send them home, send them home”
or when Trump demanded that four elected non-white Congresswomen to “go back” to “the places from which they came”
where is home for the three who were born in the US?
Simple…[Read more]

As for the otehr two,
welcome to the World of Far Right wacky woo.
