sceptical guy replied to the topic Ok so what does trolling mean?…… in the forum Getting serious 7 years, 9 months ago
Trolling – the sense generally accepted here – is easily handled. As mister q points out, just ignore.
More of a problem – on both the boards and in the rooms – is bullying, when one person latches on to another and tries to make their life a misery with personal abuse and slander, belittling and trying to humiliate.
Another problem is…[Read more]

I’m glad that I’m not the only one asking that question.
I assume it’s Ann Chantel,
but whoever it is, those who know, know.
So congratulations. Happy times.

I always understand your posts, jn, and I respect your intelligence – honestly.
Much, much more important than my opinion, or the opinion of hugs –
much more important
you have some respect for yourself.
That is so important – for us all.
People – all over, not just in jc – always have the need to take our-self-respect away.
Don’t let…[Read more]

Not childish at all.
You start up a books thread and expect me not to post my thoughts on books I Like, or comment on books you mention. That is really weird, just as when you call me a turd and a liar, or pour scorn on my experiences in mental health! I’ve not even done anything to you – not that I’m aware of, apart form opposing you…[Read more]

Sophie’s World is quite famous, a very good account of philosophy.
I don’t know of the others, but I’ll look them up.
You are a true book lover, Nem., I know.
Could I ask you, what leads you to choose particular books to read? Do you go to Amazon, ot chase up the prize winners (Booker etc), or reviews, o do you just potter about bookshops (not…[Read more]

I’ll talk about you or anyone else as I wish.
Just ignore the posts!
Or ask Hugs to contact the police, or Martin to ban me from jc.
Tsk.
The universities have been churning out people who are over-educated for the jobs they have, and their bitter status-consciousness is palpable.
I don’t follow Man Booker prize winners. I read about the…[Read more]

there were a lot of those Irish jokes floating around once.
There were also a lot of jokes about black people called Sambo and Remus…
not now, I’m glad to say.

I have no idea how well-read you are. I only know you from here, and you strike me as having a very nice side, but I’ve also come across a very touchy side, ready to strike quickly.
I have to make assumptions on here, and that means that people are going to see me as a snob and/or patronising. That’s not my fault – writing to people here is…[Read more]

well, EU laws will be in place etc until the end of 202.
Well have to wait on the deal, and particularly how the deal is treated in parliament.
I don’t take the view that the small majority is betrayed, just.
The UK voted to leave, but there was no vote on how to leave. The majority differed on that. A second vote a year ago modified the…[Read more]

The decisive move has been made.
Hardline Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab has been shoved aside from Brexit negotiations, and replaced by Theresa May herself, that is (Remoaner) Olly Robbins.
No surprise. The only alternative would have been the catastrophe of a no-deal Brexit. I’m fairly confident now that she’ll get a deal – Norway…[Read more]

Robert Crumb drew the cartoon.
He’s the dirty old man staring at the angel. He’s merciless about himself.
He does some great drawings..I used to look at them when I was in my early 20s with awe, and I’ve rediscovered a number of them.
Am also reading the unique novels of Pierre Michon, who writes about much the same thing, but in a prose which…[Read more]

well, you’ll not get any from me.
But if you want to get into novels whihc aren’t pop, try Thomas Mann’s The Magic Mountain, or Henry James, The Golden Bowl. If you dare.

We,, the government has to do what people told them, however badly those people were informed.
The government called the referendum, people voted to leave, the government then has to find the best way of leaving.
The trouble is that you can’t leave just like that – it’s a complex trading relationship.
The problems that have resulted are the…[Read more]

He does, Mister q.
He’s not my favourite author, but I hope his call for a Norway option is taken up by Corbyn. labour can’t keep going as it is; it does need to decide its alternative.
