Why is that trolling drac? Sounds like you were just having a light hearted joke with some one to me.

It’s the same motive and method of trolling, I just chose an example that was palatable.

So you don’t give a toss about this issue at all Dr Drac. Thought so.

You’re in luck then Dr Drac, the tories and UKIP want to reduce red tape in the workplace “elf n safety” and all that and labour support more protection for workers.

Protection of religion is the problem.

Although to be honest it’s as much of an issue with the Tories as most of their MPs are christian.

As you and Dr Drac, to use her formal title, are so angry about this issue, perhaps you should lobby your local MP to change the current law. If you don’t know how to lobby an MP I will happily explain to you both.

    My MP is Labour

I am genuinely curious how you would define a troll and a bully Drac.

    What’s the difference?

I have had, and do have, personal experience of being trolled and trust me humour wouldn’t work.

A troll usually is trying to wind you up, and to get you to ‘bite’ by saying things that they know will get a response from a person. Usually they don’t intend to cause harm.

If you have ever seen me in the chat rooms then you have probably seen me do very mild trolling to people.

    Edit:
I will provide an example of the most mild trolling possible, which i did earlier:

Person : Andy Murray is the best.
    Drac: Is he the golfer?
    Person: Tennis drac
Drac: Tennis is the one with the bat, right?
    Person: Racket
Drac: I thought that was rugby
    Person: Lmao drac

Clearly the other person realised that I was trolling them at that point.

I would say a paedophile would definitely be a danger working in a school, a fasting Muslim operating a crane may be a danger.

I would use the word may for paedophiles. They are still human, and have some level of self control (some of them at least).

I agree with it being illegal for them to work with children, obviously.

Don’t change the analogy now to suit your argument, in that Dr Drac, Ph.D style of yours. You were quite specific, if you are going to make sweeping statements about issues you are ignorant about, then expect others, whether it be online or in your real life, to challenge your primitive views.

I didn’t change the analogy, just explained it to you. And if I didn’t want people to challenge me, I wouldn’t be participating in this discussion.

And to be clear, I don’t think that fasting significantly affects your ability to operate a crane. But I might be wrong on this, I just don’t think that special exceptions to any law or regulation should be made for a religious practice. Especially ones that may endanger people’s lives.

You placed all Muslims, Ramadan and fasting in the same risk box as pedophilia. All pedophiles without exception, are potentially a risk to children. All Muslims fasting during Ramadan don’t operate heavy plant and dangerous machinery and even then only a tiny minority are qualified to do so.

No, that doesn’t make any sense. Not all paedophiles are teachers, just as not all muslims are crane operators. The example applies to cases in which they are in those situations. That is the point of the analogy.

But I think you know this, you just want to disagree with me.

I should probably point out there is a difference between a troll and a bully, they have different motives, and require different actions to be taken.

From personal experience the best way to deal with a (online) bully is to completely ignore them. I don’t block them, I just act as if they never sent me any messages. The blocking itself can be seen as a response, but most people would probably find it easier to ignore when it is blocked.

The best way I have found to deal with trolls is humour, they will usually stop if you make a self-deprecating or ironic joke about the subject they are sending messages about.
