James, this thread is not just about what the BNP said, or a one-sided BNP slant, many people are talking and reporting it.

Whatever legal reasons might be regarding who gets the job, its illegal to racially discriminate on racial grounds.

How would you like it, if you were the most qualified for a job, but told you couldn’t have it because your white?

This whole thing about the population being such a %, and only such % work in museums, is because white people have been better equiped for the jobs.

Should half of the work force in curry houses be white, daft isnt it.

I assume Brighton council also has steps in place to recruit a certain number of lesbian and gays too but I don’t ever hear you gay-bashing Emma. Similarly, they are likely to have (or previously had) a quota for the number of women in council posts but I don’t expect you will complain about that either.

Point me in the direction of non hetrosexuals getting ahead due to their sexual persuassions, and i’ll complain.

I am personally against positive-discrimination but it is likely that there were sound reasons for the council implementing this policy, perhaps to make sure employers were no longer able to discriminate against ethnic minorities for example

And that couldn’t happen now because…?

Maybe they are merely fulfilling an election promise and they are doing exactly what they promised the people who voted for them they would do?

So racial discrimination is worth voting for then?

Whatever the reasons, it is a local political matter and the people who live there can vote (or protest) against it at the next opportunity (the only person I can think of who lives in that area is DOA but I don’t expect we’ll get any reasoned comments from him). Whatever the solution for the lovely people of Brighton, it is NOT going to be the fecking BNP, is it?

Well according to you, racist policy is ok, and i pressume you think the BNP have racist policy.

hehe you remind me of jim davidson.

Have to disagree owen. I think if policy was put forth, most people would side with decency.

Tuff on crime, controled immigration, decent nhs.

They are what people want, they are what people dont get.

If our political leaders were not religous, would they become unelectable?

I think they would, hence my scepticism. Bot getting elected must take priority for all politicians. Therefore, society gets what it deserves. And most of them read The Sun, The Mirror, The Mail and The News of The World, so f*ck ’em all I say!

Depends who our political leaders were. But i would say yes generally. The question is, who is willing to promote good policy regardless?

Some would say a radical response to your latter point, i say i hear ya!!

But its not all NOTW MAIL etc, there also guardian readers, seartchlight and stopthebnp political activists too my friend Owen.

What we need is decent policy for decent people who work hard each and every day.

I’m sceptical about political leaders who attend church. Are they really Christians or are they afraid to not be seen to be Christian?

When Margaret Thatcher was asked for her opinion on religion she replied; “As a child I was made to attend Sunday School, and I hated it!”

I admire her for that, not much more, but I admire her for that. 8)

    Good point there Owen.

Should we condem blair and all those who talk religious belief in their political gains?

From the BNP website, july 12th:
“The council of the second city of Britain is shamefully providing support to Islamic terrorists. At a meeting held in the council owned Small Heath community centre on Sunday July 2, an Islamic extremist and apologist for terrorism preached a message of hate against non-Muslims and praised the murderous attacks such as the 2001 Twin Towers attacks and the 2005 London bombings.

Abu Izzadeen who changed his name from Trevor Brooks is a spokesman for the Muslim group al-Ghurabaa, a successor to the notorious and now defunct al-Muhajiroun. He addressed the crowd in the council owned building with an anti-British, anti-Jewish, anti-Christian rant entitled “How Can We Prevent Another 7/7?”

During the speech, which was partly filmed, the 31 year old benefit scrounger from East London can be seen making jokes about a Black lady injured in the 9/11 Islamic terrorist attack on New York. He gloats about how Islamic suicide bombers murdered Spanish commuters in Madrid. He called upon Jews in the UK to condemn Israel threatening that otherwise there might be a repeat of the 7/7 attacks.

A spokeswoman for Birmingham City Council said it was concerned to hear about the allegations and it would “investigate”. So far no action has been taken by West Midlands Police to investigate the hate crimes committed by this apologist for terrorism.

AI: “What I would say about those who do suicide operations, or martyrdom operations – they’re completely praiseworthy. If I see Mujahadin attack the UK, I always stand with the Muslims”.

AI: “There’s always a clash of civilisations, there’s always a clash of ideals. And because Islam is not written by a man, I can’t change it. But because democracy’s written by a man, they can change it to accommodate the Muslims. I’m born here. I have the right to call for Islam, wherever I am. And that’s a problem for the British society and establishment; that the community here, the new generation of Muslims, are born in the UK. We have a British passport, and British citizenship but our allegiance is only to Islam.”

But they are, so I’m not!

Is it an act? Might be, to give them “gods will” to wage war.
