My grandfather died a couple of months ago on his 92nd birthday. He had lived alone for the 21 years previous (since the death of his wife) but was completely independent… taking care of a large 3 bed roomed house with his beloved garden. He cooked, cleaned and washed for himself and needed help from nobody. One Saturday he was out in his garden picking home grown peas to prepare for the roast dinner he was planning the next day when he slightly over did it. He was taken into hospital with chest pains and while under observation… he just closed his eyes….. and never opened them again.

NOW HOW FUCKING PERFECT IS THAT!

Now you can bleat all you like Esmerelda…. but…. like Matty…. I know which way I would like to go and given the choice I am certain that all of us would choose a quick painless death… after we had lived our lives to the full…. and not spent the best part of ten years being cared for and being pushed in front of the tv for hours on end.

Nobody is saying that wheelchair bound pensioners are unhappy… far from it. But if you had maybe asked those pensioners first Esmerelda instead of just appointing yourself as their spokesperson I’m pretty damn sure they would ALL say the same.
