Planning is something I do well – and planning a wedding is not tremendously different from planning a conference for example.

Wouldn’t it be nice if Gizmo and Witey were to invite me to help them with their wedding plans? We’d need a budget of course so that we knew what sort of size it would be and how much to spend.

Traditionally it’s the Bride’s father that pays for his daughter’s wedding so I guess we’d have to ask him how many thousands of pounds he was prepared to invest for Witey to take her off his hands (as it were).

Mmmmmm This could be fun !!!

It isn’t a perfect society, and I very much doubt it ever will be. But since this government came to power, judges have been granted the power to set a
minimum tariff on a prison sentence.

True Owen, they have. But this was in place of the Home Secretary’s power to do exactly the same thing. So by meddling they have achieved absolutely nothing – as usual.

The fact is that the New Labour government introduced, fought for, and passed the Criminal Justice Act 2003 which REQUIRED that all prisoners sentenced to more than a period of 12 months be released after having served only HALF their sentences.

So we now have the unedifying sight of ”Dr” John Reid blaming Judges for passing sentences that are a direct consequence of his own Government’s recent legislation.

The Judge passed a ”life” sentence of 18 years. This was HALVED to 9 years – as he was obliged to do by New Labour’s law. He was then obliged to deduct a further 1/3 from this figure to take account of a guilty plea – which makes 6 years. Allowing for time served whilst on remand, this is how the actual sentence of 5 years in prison is arrived at.

Oh dear oh dear those nasty evil wicked Israelis have done it again. Seems as though they killed 11 people when they launched two rockets at a van carrying Quassam rockets on its way to fire them into Israel (from the infamous tourist beach????).

They managed to kill two Palestinian militants in the van with the rockets but apparently a group of ‘civilians’ gathered round and tried to remove the unexploded rockets and rocket debris from the van prior to inviting sympathetic journalists to photograph the latest Israeli atrocity against entirely ”innocent” palestinians – so they fired a second missile at them to finish the job off.

Pity about the propoganda coup going wrong – still I am sure that Hamas etc will soon set up another one.

Yup – 18th August 2007 is now in my diary as well. I am sooooo looking forward to this wedding, it sounds as though it is going to be great. Gizmo in her white wedding dress, Witey wearing formal clothes (for a change), bridesmaids, flowers, a big reception, the whole thing.

BTW Gizmo, don’t let Witey fob you off with using his van for your wedding vehicle. Insist that he provides you with a limo to get to the Register Office.

Have you chosen the processional music for the entrance of the Bride yet??? Everybody chooses the Wedding March as a rule – “Bridal Chorus” from “Lohengrin” (i.e. “Here Comes The Bride”) (1841) by Richard Wagner – but you micht like to consider ‘Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring’ by Johann Sebastian Bach. It’s a much more stylish piece of music and I am sure will be more suited to the formality of your wedding.

Do let us all know what you think of this won’t you???

Yes Drivel, I wondered about that as well. My understanding is that there is no such group or ‘nationality’ as Palestinian. These Arabs that now rejoice in the title today are primarily nomadic arabs from a number of tribes the main one of which is the Bedouin.

Isn’t it true that they have been nomadically wandering ”Arabia” for many generations if not centuries?

well i just want to say that the whole thing was totally out of order and he doesn’t have a nasty bone in his body OK I didn’t see it either but I was there in spirit and if I had seen it I would have felt the way he did and she shouldn’t have said those things about him and he was only defending himself wasn’t he so i am sorry that we all had to see it except me because as I said before I wasn’t there to see it but if I was I would have seen it and then I would have agreed with him because she was totally out of order and in spite of all she said which I didn’t see but everybody else has seen it he doesn’t have a nasty bone in his body and he never has had even though she say he has it just isn’t true and she is totally out of order at least thats what everybody who did see it is saying even though I wasn’t there I might just as well have been……….

If you steal they chop off your hand. If you appeal against sentence and your appeal is successful they sew it back on again.

Can’t say fairer than that !!!

I know it was an innocent typo – but I thought that ”dumbusters” was pretty funny.

So, it was a shite idea, people pointed it out and it got dropped? That’s terrible. I must admit, I used to enjoy the traditional Tory it was a shite idea, people pointed it out and they did it anyway to hilarious effect. That Poll Tax had me chuckling for months.

I think you’re really an undercover Labour activist, here to convince me that the government isn’t as bad as I thought it was, PB. I shall have to start calling you Campbell.

Well you say this Pikey, but the really scary thing is that at the time they floated the idea they really thought it was going to be a bit of a winner.

It was only when the whole world told them it was uttter crap that they hastily backed off.

Problem is that we are currently governed by a bunch of failed clowns who seriously believe that they can spin just about everything. They don’t seem to be able to come up with anything in the way of policies that address current, much less future, issues.

As long as one of their soft focus groups comes up with a headline grabbing idea that allows them to gain maximum publicity then they seem to be quite comfortable to carry on pissing our money down the drain on more and more failed initiatives.

Mention the utter and complete cock up called the NHS for example and all they can tell you is how much money they have spent on it and this alone seems to be the yardstick for success. Oh and of course reel out tons of meaningless statistics like a speak your weight machine.

They’ve been in power for 10 long long very long years and the best they can do is to blame their predecessors over and over again. They should try to behave honourably and simply pack up their bags and slink off into the night – and take their failed musician with them.

BTW I always thought that Alistair Campbell was excellent value for money – at least he wasn’t a totally PC social worker lookalike.

In fact ”the North” starts at Watford (in Hertfordshire for the ignorant Northern gits).

This is because all signs in London that point northwards clearly say ”Watford and the North”. Surely everybody knows that !!!
