20 January, 2006 at 12:19 am #183150Christ Tommy – don’t post it, you’ll break the servers.
19 January, 2006 at 11:57 pm #182607May I have the ”last” word??? I thought that the ”kermit” nickname was hilarious – so much better than the usual abuse.
Lambers old girl – for me from now on you will be for ever Kermit.
19 January, 2006 at 1:06 pm #183060I think that was the gist of my post Oss. Hopefully it may bear fruit – you never know.
19 January, 2006 at 12:35 pm #183058Yours is an interesting premise Owen, but the evidence to support it is at best only anecdotal.
Don’t forget all the JustChat message board is is a piece of software (provided by phpBB) on a server with numerous internet pathways to it.
The content (or posts) are totally those of the users and nobody else. It is free at the point of use, whether as a Guest or as a signed up Member. The board ‘traffic’ is created by views – some of which lead on to users posting and the majority of views that don’t lead to a post.
It is a community and if you feel that the community is posting stuff that causes itself harm then you should lead the way personally towards the change you want to see and hope that others will follow you.
18 January, 2006 at 12:24 pm #183147I don’t know the Tony Montaner band – is it is the plumber’s guild???
18 January, 2006 at 12:19 pm #183048A very interesting topic Owen. I agree with Sian that some message boards are terrible – full of outrageous filth or insults or just constantly spammed with constant postings of emoticons and inane comments. By contrast JustChat is pretty mild.
I dislike the boards that are too severley moderated where anything that the owner/moderators disagrees with is banned or users are booted out for the smallest infringement.
We do try to take a reasonably relaxed view and allow users a lot of leeway in what they post. I guess that it is pretty obvious to most users where the line is and only on really few occasions is it necessary to press the ”magic button”.
I guess that one of our problems is that we are not a ”single issue” site dedicated to a particular interest group. We simply offer a venue for all users to post their thoughts and views on pretty much any subject that they can think of.
This can lead to periods where there are no ”interesting” topics that attract a range of views and debate. Conversley the opposite can happen and the posts are flowing fast and (sometimes) furious.
At the end of the day there are a few very well known ”battlers” who sieze every opportunity to have a go at each other – usually on the same old grounds. Sometimes i wish they could change the script a bit, just to keep it interesting. But hey, that’s life and they are entitled to hate whoever they wish.
The bottom line is to reduce the unnecessary drivelling on posts, as this is just plain boring; keep reasonably to the topic; and maybe post some ”challenging” topics that fire up the imagination.
16 January, 2006 at 5:01 pm #182517Awwwwwww don’t be a meanie Geoff – what do you care if they get a bit extra? At least you can claim that you were insensible.
16 January, 2006 at 4:59 pm #182516Only if I can be sarcastic to and blisteringly rude about everyboy.
Oh I do that anyway…..
16 January, 2006 at 4:57 pm #182514All these Steves – get me all confused. I even though it was ‘Stevenage f’ at one stage – but ‘he’ doesn’t have a sense of humour.
As for you being done over……………….. look you were soooooo pissed you wouldn’t have noticed anyway – so they get to keep their bonuses.
