I’d have a problem with that, I don’t wear black.
But while we’re on the subject of clothes…what is it with labels?
As I mentioned previously, my friend is very label conscious, as are many of her friends…my facebook is littered with photos of them in their new clothes asking for comments and my comment of “nice frock, looks good on you” or “nice shoes but how the hell do you walk ing them?” get a reply of “fgs Jen it’s a (insert designer name here) haute couture, it is NOT a frock!” or “you’re not supposed to walk in them, they’re (insert designer name here)”.
I like to think I dress well for my age and body shape but I couldn’t give two hoots where it comes from or what label it is, my clothes come from all sorts of shops…if I like it and it fits and it is in my price bracket that’s good enough for me. Out the other evening wearing a new pair of black jeans, one said to me “oooooh I like your jeans, I like the cut, whose are they?”. I almost replied “they’re mine” when I realised what she meant and replied “thank you, they’re pretty good aren’t they? I picked them up at New Look at the weekend.” I swear she stepped back a pace or two then wrinkled her nose in disgust before replying “ah yes, now I look closer I can see…the light isn’t very good in here is it?”
Next time I’m going to do my homework, give them a designer name of the moment, watch them get all excited then say “oh sorry, it’s not those jeans I’m wearing after all, they’re at the cleaners…I put the ones from Tesco on this evening didn’t I?”
