You like the boys?
Will you pay my share towards their weddings then, plz?
Those of you that want the monarchy should bloody well pay for it.
I’d rather my taxes went to those that really need them.
We should have the right to opt out of paying for this ridiculous and outdated institution.
It’s well known I like the boys haha. Although I have settled down now and am getting hitched lol No you knew what I meant…
Anyhow, my Dad would have agreed with you so much! I do think the money that goes into the monarchy is ridiculous. I would agree with you there! They are estimating 80 million quid just for the security at the wedding, with all the heads of state there it is going to be a terrorists dream!
Maybe they should fund the wedding by screening it as pay per view lol18 November, 2010 at 10:24 pm #454347For whatever reason the Royals became they have been here for 100’s of years. I am not a royalist but I do like the boys.
I can trace my family tree back 500 years. Born into the Charlton family my heritage lies in being a border reiver. Raping, pillaging and ransacking others fortunes. Therefore once upon a time my family would have been peasants. More recently (victorian and edwardian) my family were rich land owners in Northumberland, the product of ill gotten gains no doubt. I have some of the jewellery and hairpins that my great great grandmother owned… tortoise shell and whitby jet! Alas my great grandad had a little problem with a gambling streak and lost many of the businesses and land he owned! Grr lol
So no am not a peasant but my ancestors were!Anyhoo… I like William and Harry lol

18 November, 2010 at 10:09 pm #450755There is nothing wrong with a healthy debate. Sometimes however people use this media to get an ego boost to fill their own need by belittling someone else, for whatever reason.
No one should name call on the internet. It has been proven that internet bullying has lead to some tragic events. Look at the case of Tyler Clementi who jumped off the bridge over the Hudson River after being cyber bullied over his sexuality.
The reality is domains like this one harbour many people with insecurities, and something lacking in their lives, it is an outlet and quite often fills a void in someones life and it is nice that people can come together and reach out to people who they might not normally associate with, however we must all show RESPECT for one and other. Yes not everyone lives to the same conformation as you, yes some might have different standards, or earn less or not been priviledged with a high standard of education but at the end of the day the moment we all resort to name calling, sniping and lack of respect for each other then that is the moment you have lost your own self respect.
I was vunerable a while back after the death of my beloved Dad and Gran and the compassion showed by some of the forum 2 members helped me through that, however that was all undone by one nasty comment by another chatter in the forum and it was then I realised how there are many on here who have no regard for their human kind. It is a sorry but true fact. Do as you would be done by.18 November, 2010 at 9:55 pm #454926Thanks Poli, I have a crate! I am taking them out after food, sleep, play etc…don’t even let their feet touch the floor when i get them out the crate to the garden! I just have bob martin pads maybe I should look into the ones you mentioned… They are 7 weeks so maybe it’s just a waiting game like you said x
18 November, 2010 at 9:17 pm #454924Got the pads and they are a limited sucess, the puppies wee on them but not all the time! They are not even going back to the same place Poli, just standing and doing a drip anywhere they want… I hate it, I am a hygiene freak lol

Alas being able to check up on someone proves nothing other than they have never been caught!
It amazes me how much strength is given to CRB checks and the like. People who are abusive (in whatever form) can be doing it for decades before they are even caught.
We only ever hear about the extreme cases or where catastophic failings in the system have resulted in a child’s death, but did you know it is so much more common than you think.
I used to own a nursery school and in one term alone we had at least 3 children whom we considered to be at risk and were monitoring. I actually had to take the step of referring one case to social services, doing so with such apprehension in case I was wrong – turned out that the child and family were already known to social services. I felt so much better on hearing that.
Child protection or safeguarding begins at home with you and me, never be affraid to take something further if you have a hunch, if you are wrong no harm done.
Abuse takes many forms, neglecting to take your ill child to a doctor cause you can’t take time of work is neglect which is abuse. Obviously sexual abuse is what it is but allowing a child to encounter sexualised viewing on tv for example a 13 year old watching an 18 certificate film, could be construde as abuse. Obviously extreme examples but like I said, good upbringing in a safe environment begins in the home.
I could talk about this all day as I have attended several courses on the subject over the years and seen some pretty harrowing stuff. Nothing shocks me. As long as people cannot even be civil to one and other in a chat room, what chance have the extremists in this society ever got of seeing right from wrong.Anyway back to my original point, step fathers or not, CRB or not, Background checks or not, it will make no difference. it goes on. I know many men who adore and take on a child as if they were there own, why should they be scrutinised because of the actions of a minority in society?
Thanks for this Melody… one thing struck me though, do social services not inform the nursery if a child who is at risk is in their care? Surely the nursery should know?
Teapot
A child would have to be on the ‘At risk’ register and they are only put on this after much liaison between different agencies. A child can be known to social services for a variety of reasons but not be on the at risk register. Incidently the child that I referred to social services was actually under threat from an abusive relationship between his mother and her boyfriend. He actually came into nursery one day with 3 broken teeth from apparently falling in the bath. Maybe this fits in with this thread!
Thanks for the link Ruby I shall get reading!
18 November, 2010 at 7:06 pm #454910I wonder how a man may feel if he was investigated and was innocent? Would it damage the relationship though? Or does he not have to know? Am outta da loop lately?
