I think the NHS is in a deep crisis. It is such a shame, as there are some very very good clinicians and nurses working very hard to try and keep the standards high. It has been on a downward slide for 20 years I think, and god knows what will fix it now.

And I agree that politics shouldn’t interfere with sports events. But this is not an ideal world, and sports has often served to highlight problems in areas of the world that without an event and the media attention, may have not got the attention it deserved.

Not sure, actually. But each country it visits, they have to have security, police, etc etc etc. Presumably the costs in London would be born by either the city itself, or the Government in some way.

Perhaps the actually transfer of the torch is covered by the Olympic Committee.
