They didn’t really follow process – not so much falling foul of discrimination as not following their own policies – sloppy.
The bus company had a point but………
I would go on a bus he drove and work alongside him, but if I was black, and knew he believed I should be deported despite having lived in the UK all my life, I would probably feel different.
What should a company do about a guy who has never openly discriminated but holds discriminatory views? If someone hates women but is very proper to them at work, you cannot take action, whatever you might feel about him.
A real moral dilemma.

I think the future of the UK does depend on the EU .. and unfortunately it’s going to be quite bleak, in my opinion.
Ooops…. it already is bleak, but it’s going to get worse :(I agree entirely.
We can speculate about whether things will get better or worse, but we cannot cut ourselves off from Europe.
People talk about globalisation but in truth the real thrust for foreign and economic policy is increasing regionisation, where countries work very closely with their neighbours to compete with other regional blocks. The US sides with the rest of American. Australia cuddles up to New Zealand and South East Asia.
There is no choice. All we do by staying semi-detached from Europe is that we allow them to shape the EU without us.
The Americans aren’t that keen on the Mexicans and Venezuelans, the Aussies don’t necessarily rate the Samoans or the Japanese but they do care how the money flows.
Don’t matter if we like em or not, Europe is our future for better or worse.

Why not both together? :D
What you mean eat a sausage and batter dish while someone is sticking their toes in one of your orifices?
Would a foot in a sensitive place put you off your food, or would chewing on some batter spoil your erotic thoughts.
I couldn’t do both a once, I need to concentrate!
6 November, 2012 at 6:45 pm #513713It’s a woman’s right to choose. People’s circumstances and what they can live with is different. I certainly wouldn’t judge someone for whatever choice they made.
People can quote terrible circumstances, but I do think that if you are well enough off to provide for the child, have a loving relationship with your partner, who is the father, and a roof over your head, choosing to end a potential life is a big decision. People do however have their reasons.
And any man big enough and ugly enough to do the act should stand up to his responsibilities, whatever the choice. Equally of course giving birth to a wanted child, as a result of an unwanted relationship, forces the woman to continue to have some kind of contact with the father for the sake of the child.
Only thing is you get a choice about ending a pregnancy, but you don’t get a choice about whether you become pregnant and give birth to a healthy child (i.e. one who can survive). What I mean is that there are no guarantees about having children, and certainly no right to children that God, science or medicine can provide.
When I see young people ending a pregnancy to avoid it “ruining their life”, I just wonder what it will feel like in their thirties if they have done a few things but can’t have children. Once you are older things sometimes seem so different.

2 November, 2012 at 8:47 am #513613You could be the new F3 life coach Wordy, helping F3 to keep you physically and spiritually healthy, as well as entertained.
It’s an unpaid position of course but who can put a price on supporting your fellow posters?

2 November, 2012 at 8:28 am #513623We can fight it all we want but their future is our future.
The harsh reality is no-one else cares. Europe cares because we are neighbours and if we mess up it rebounds on them – it’s not that all Europeans think we’re the best thing since sliced bread, it’s necessity. Their economies depend on ours, and ours certainly depends on them.
We can have a love affair with the USA if we want, but they care more about their own neighbours in America. It’s just economic and political reality.
It’s Europe or bust. We can leave the EU if we want, but like them or loathe them, the EU will still be the biggest influence on our lives.
2 November, 2012 at 7:29 am #513610You’re right Tinks – the best advice is the stuff we’ve known for years.
I cook almost everything from scratch these days – it’s usually cheaper and you know what’s in the food.
Not sure I always agree with Gloria Hunniford though that some of what she talks about really is a scandal. You’ve always had to read labels to be sure, e.g. juice “drink” has always been different to pure juice. The science bit is really trying to put you off by showing stuff in a lab. Whey extract isn’t an evil unnatural substance – it’s a natural by-product of cheese production, surprising then that happens to be a white powder.
It is however quite entertaining and it does remind you to think.

Have you been conversing with young people again?
Not that you’re not a young person yourself.
