A pastor’s wife was expecting a baby, so he stood before the congregation and asked for a raise. After much discussion, they passed a rule that whenever the pastor’s family expanded; so would his paycheck….After 6 children, this started to get expensive and the congregation decided to hold another meeting to discuss the pastor’s expanding salary….A great deal of yelling and inner bickering ensued,(Sounds like JC  ) as to how much the pastor’s additional children were costing the church, and how much more it could potentially cost….After listening to them for about an hour, the pastor rose from his chair and spoke, “Children are a gift from God, and we will take as many gifts as He gives us.”…Silence fell over the congregation. In the back pew, a little old lady struggled to stand, and finally said in her frail voice, “Rain is also a gift from God (also known as Andy), but when we get too much of it, we wear rubbers.”
The entire congregation said, “Amen.

3 January, 2013 at 4:50 pm #517063I think it should be means tested…. truly I dont now a single person in the real world of pensionable age who needs it… in fact I know people who donate it to charity…… if you need it OK it should be paid but with an ageing population I think it should be means tested.
I think you are right though tinks the likelihood of it being used to assist the aged in other ways is doubtful… but I still think there are a lot of affluent pensioners who dont need it,

I think shopping centres will survive but only f they create a shopping experience. such as ice skating, fashion shows creches and the like….. City centres and high streets I fear are doomed :( My son and daughter did all their Xmas shopping online and they have weekly grocery deliveries all done online…. I think they are fairly typical of their generation.

I love veggies and fruit but my hubby refuses to eat anything green… have to say he seems healthy enough :D
