I think you’ll find that refs can be appointed to officiate at any game in any league as funnily enough, the rules are the same!
As for being withdrawn from a match:

Or maybe, as the manager of Liverpool FC, he was concentrating on their business and not the appointed officials for the match.

The 25-year-old, who is at the centre of a sexism row, will referee the Blue Square Bet North game between the Steelmen and Eastwood on Saturday.
Drury told BBC Radio Northampton: “If they’ve dropped her to our level [because of the row], that’s a shame.
“She stamps her authority on the game and she interacts with players well. We’ve got a top referee for this game.”
I didnt say sexism wasnt on a par with racism but as with most things i think theres different degrees of each and i think what Ron Atkinson said was far worse than what Andy Gray said.
Well, it depends on who you are – race, colour, gender etc. As a mixed race female, I find Atkinson’s and Gray’s comments to be equally out of order.
Offensive? No. I feel sorry for them that they can’t embrace equality and diversity – it’s ignorance and I feel sorry for ignorant ppl. Sure, they are “victims” of their generation but that is their fault for not being aware that times change.
Fine if they want to be stuck in the past but when my Sky subscription helps pay their wages (or did) then I have a right to voice an opinion when I am rightly made aware of their attitudes.
And sport is supposed to be a unifying force – it is supposed to cut across all barriers and be inclusive not exclusive so there is no place in sport for the Gray’s and Atkinson’s of this world.

You are assuming that football in general is behind Andy Gray – I don’t think they are. Read Dalglish’s comments on the matter:

Gray is an outdated dinosaur. Sport is suppposed to break down ALL barriers.
And it’s Gray’s and Key’s career that has ended – all Sian Massey has done is to prove she can do her job very well.

Sexism is on par with racism so like Atkinson, Gray deserved to get disciplined.
But Gray got the sack for his revolting comment he made to the woman about tucking his microphone in in his trousers. If that hadn’t come to light, then he would probably have kept his job. Any bloke in any office would probably get the push for that.
As for Sian Massey – why would there be a cloud hanging over her head – what has she done wrong??? :roll: :roll: :roll:
