18 February, 2008 at 4:28 pm #302200Fgs theres just no pleasing some people is there?!
So the Mcanns have apparantly had the picture of another missing girl added to the posters of madelaine, and are therefore helping the father to track down his missing daughter. But rather than thank them for this kind gesture, he has the gall to complain that they didnt ask his permission to use the photo! They’re doing him a favour ffs! If it was my daughter who had gone missing and someone ran a free campaign advertising her disapperance on posters, I’d be eccstatic, as would any other sane person. Seems to me that hes just a greedy man trying to get a payout, what a bloody cheek!

now families stay at home still and so do the smokers, so in fact the real losers are the children, where before the ban, mum and dad had a pint and a fag while kids were tucked up with a babysitter or gran, they now have to put up with mum and dad arguing cos neither an go for a pint and a fag, this has caused untold domestic trouble and the kids are the ones suffering, well done anti smokers you have condemned children to a life of tension and fag smoke.
 :wink:The smoking ban has not stopped anyone I know going to the pub. Most pubs have adapted and built outdoor smoking areas, like conservatories. Those that havent though have hoards of smokers inconsiderately blocking the entrance while they puff away. I went out last night and despite the smoking ban still came home reeking of cigarette smoke because of this very reason. Why dont they allow compromise and have the bar area as a smoking room and keep the lounge smoke free, that way people can choose what environment they sit in and everyones happy.

In Norway you can only buy alcohol from an off licence and they are only open during work hours. Maybe they should do something like that over here for booze n fags.
Why, what will this achieve?
17 February, 2008 at 12:50 pm #312920I think its only a matter of time before alcohol carrys similar warnings to Cigarettes though.
Maybe something like this,
“Warning! people may appear more attractive if drank in excess”
“Warning! this may seriously affect your ability to walk in a straight line”
17 February, 2008 at 12:43 pm #312918Do you know how cigarette packets carry warnings like “smoking kills” and “smoking causes impotency” etc. Why is it that beer cans dont have simliar labels? :? Bizarre isnt it.

Forcing smokers to apply for a £10 permit to buy cigarettes wont make a blind bit of difference. Smokers fork out a fiver a packet daily, whats a tenner to these people?
It is designed to reduce smoking in those under age and under 21- ultimately it will put some older smokers off too
You have a license to watch TV, a license to drive your car- why not have a license for something which is recognisably dangerous to your health and those around you
Yeah and how many people do you know who are put off watching tv because they have to buy a licence?…….none.
Why not go the whole hog and force people to buy individual alcohol permits as well  ffs if people want to smoke in their own homes (as they CANT now do it in public places) then thats their choice surely. Thats my opinion and im a NON smoker!
