Being a hopeless geek though, I have to give honorary mentions to the Star Wars gigs.
Brill 8)13 August, 2012 at 1:33 pm #506699One could contend that some of the vitriolic and abusive reactions to his opinions go quite a way in actually validating them.
Although in my opinion some of them are quite valid in themselves.. Despite the somewhat extreme manner they are asserted. A manner I’m not altogether enamoured with btw.
To be honest I actually disagree with a fair deal of Morrissey’s mantra in this case. But from an intellectual and sociological angle.
NOT because of prejudicial preconceived notions of the man or (ridiculously) his eating habits.
Even if he refuses me, as a meat eater, the same courtesy.
The truth is that his are strong, anti establishment opinions that deserve proper scrutiny methinks.. And though it is tough to resist demonising such a tirade coming from a rock star’s privilged position and security, it is good and well that these words be heard, regardless of personal prejudice as to the relative merits of whoever is stating them.

What they need to do now is get ALL the Gold Medallists together and make them fight to the death, hunger games style.
But who would win ?

Why Katniss Everdeen from District 12 of course 8)

He’s going to rise
Everyone knows that Johnny is ready
He’s ready to fly
Up on the rooftop he turns to the crowd
No one is waiting
Because no one is thereNobody knows why Elvis threw it all away
Nobody knows what Ruby had to hide
Nobody knows why some of us get broken hearts
And some of us find a world that’s clear and bright
You could be packed up and ready
Knowing exactly where to go
How come you miss the connection?
No use in asking
The answer is nobody knows
No use in asking
The answer is nobody knowsJohnny will keep his illusions
What else can he do?
And you can pretend that it would be different
If it happened to you
But up on the rooftop it’s a whole other world
And who could see heaven and not want to stay?Nobody knows why Elvis threw it all away
Nobody knows what Ruby had to hide
Nobody knows why some of us get broken hearts

I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread; And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout. When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And some one called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.William Butler Yeats
