I like this thread and Im jumpin on with no link yet as I have to go in a mo…
But I remember the morning John Lennon died. My mum was bathing me with the sink bowl in the front room and we had the big lights on, cos it was dark. It came on the news. Will never ever forget it.
Our wallpaper and carpet were horrid, and I can still picture it, with the news blaring out from the telly. I didnt have much thought other than ah what a shame, poor man, but I didnt know him. Till my dad taught me all about it.
I remember that day too.
My dad – knowing how big a fan I was – popped in from work to tell me.
A few days later I was in Liverpool.
The Cavern Club was a car park then – it’s been rebuilt since.
I’m going back in August to do a proper Beatles tour – something I’ve been wanting to do for years.31 July, 2008 at 6:47 pm #358554@bon bon wrote:
I have been struck down by a mysterious illness.
I think it started at the end of the quiz Tuesday night.
The shock of beating Pats and coming third could have started it off.Are you seriously suggesting that pats is good at quizzes??

I don’t think teachers should be allowed to teach if they haven’t a passion, teaching isn’t just a job, it should be more than that!
Words of wisdom?
Most Labour government ministers started out the same way by telling us about passion etc etc..
The trouble is our schools are overcrowded and the “passion” you write about has been compromised by classroom sizes and student translation problems.
Who’d be a teacher these days??30 July, 2008 at 10:23 pm #357898@pete wrote:

My use of the word “foreign” makes me a racist??
obtuse sounds like a fully paid-up member of the looney left who needs some tree-hugging therapy.

You make a godawful fuss as the queue of frustrated shoppers lengthens behind you. Eventually someone will have the good grace to chuck a whole penny on the counter. They will do this because they have a life to get on with, and can probably write it off against tax somehow.
You then depart with that special smirk on your face, while clutching your unsoiled tenner and muttering “Suckers !!” under your breath.
I am not worthy in the presence of such a true master of tightwaddery. =D>
ps…do you have any tips on how I can jump the queue at Morrisons’ checkout without getting anyone’s back up yet still maintaining that “special smirk”…??
