I was reading about the time Elvis met The Beatles and how nobody took a photograph of it. What a real faux pas that was!

    It was intentional

Did you hear Elvis singing Hey Jude? It was almost as bad as listening to Cheryl Cole

Ahh this isn’t a thread about the American tv series then..?

You’re so busy sitting on your high horse, looking down on me whilst holding onto your fixation with the Polish, coming up with patronising put-downs, that you completely miss the point of anything I (or indeed anyone else who doesn’t agree with you) say.

In my opinion you are a bigot who presents things in a way that suits your own argument whilst ignoring anyting that counters that argument. You are so fixated on the Polish and Eastern Europeans that you are blind to the much more insidious threats to our society. Keep peddling the same argument Terry but rest assured, if this country does go down the tubes it won’t be because of the Polish and Eastern Europeans however you paint the picture.

Obsession can blind one to useful debate.

    Jen

you remind me of a politician who has been caught fiddling his/her expenses claim and has been suddenly put on the spot to explain yourself.

Describing someone as a “bigot” is a dangerous (and totally misleading..) card to play with me because it simply isn’t true. It is also a personal attack and attempt to deflect away from the real debate that’s going on here.

Gordon Brown used that tactic when he ‘put down’ a voter who he’d met in the street before the last election.. She’d dared to question why he was allowing east Europeans to come into the country en masse (something we were all wondering about) and why we weren’t allowed to voice an opinion about it.

Gordon Brown’s response – a negative one ,like yours cost him the election. He simply didn’t want to discuss it so he fought dirty. A bit like you’re doing now.

I don’t dislike Poles – I’ve met, dined, conversed and even added some to facebook. My “obsession” with east Europeans is more to do with economic values than racial ones.

All I want is for you to tell me why east European migrants are beneficial to this country’s economy.

    Hey Tezzarolio!

I was going to lambast you for mocking my clique-buddy so sarcastically and patronisingly, but then I remember that can’t be right because you don’t like personal attacks, and you’re open-minded to debate so it must just be friendly banter – you misleading scamparoonie!

At least that saves jen_jen the trouble of pointless research, because you don’t intend ‘knowing’ anything other than what you know already, just just wanted to send her off on a wild goose chase – you good-humoured prankster you!!!!

Deflecting away from the real debate (as you have) is probably a wise decision. You can’t fight a battle without bullets.

So how would opting out of the EU and sending all the European immigrants home help save the country?

    Jen

what annoys me so much about your comments is the fact that you expect me to go back to square one and repeat things (over and over again..) that I’ve already posted.

You already know my viewpoints on east European immigration – I’ve made no secret of the fact that (in my opinion) the mass influx of immigrants will have a detrimental effect on this country’s well being – in the short term and moreso in the long term.

A lot of people (including politicians) are starting to realise this. Allowing a figure of approximately 2,000,000 east Europeans to settle in this country – the vast majority of whom are not even needed – was an incredibly shortsighted (and harmful..) decision made by Gordon Brown.

Let me re-iterate the fact (and it is a fact, despite what you’ve read..) that east Europeans do not boost our economy and never will. The opposite is true.
An independent report has stated that, over a seven-year period, the Poles living here managed to send home (to Polish bank accounts) a massive £23,000,000,000. That is money lost to our economy for good.

We simply cannot afford to subsidise the Polish economy especially in these unstable economic times.

It isn’t rocket science to work out that employing British workers would not have the same effect on our economy. In fact, employing British workers (and getting them off benefits) would boost it.

If you don’t understand this basic principle Jen (and I have sincere reservations about your ability to grasp most situations) then there is not much point in debating the issue.

My advice to you is to go away and do a bit of research before you start getting into serious discussions.

And please, let me know (in your own time) how east European immigration is a good thing for this country.

No one took a picture because the meeting was inside Graceland and no media were allowed.

The meeting was in Los Angeles.

    No. It was at Graceland.

They only met the once and it was at Elvis’ mansion in Los Angeles.

They met at Graceland, as his guests.

No, they didn’t. The Beatles played Memphis but never (ever) went to Gracelamd.
