I was once a dealer but it was a long time ago. I used to sell counterfeit biscuits in a shady part of biscuit town. It financed my first empire. The best thing was bringing them into the country one at a time, flying low to avoid coastal radar, and this kept the street price high for digestives. Eventually the Feds nabbed me – damn those Feds and their advanced biscuit surveillance techniques…….they gave me twenty years in Alcatraz. But I managed to float away on a garibaldi I had stashed away. I then held up a store (it was easy holding it up – all them biscuits gave me criminal strength you see) and continued with my getaway.

Not proud of any of this of course and I’d appreciate it if you kept this information to yourself. But we were all young once. Nowadays I’m a changed man. If a person was to offer me a nice biscuit now with my afternoon tea, why first I slowly count to ten, try and focus on how my life used to be such hell, and use advanced meditation techniques to slow my metabolism right down.

well “champions” and “league” – its a double misnomer isn’t it ? for the reasons sword states too. Of course its a cup competition in essence – almost assured qualification for the same names from the groups then strictly knock-out all the way

in similar fashion the old european cup, for the big clubs, would really only start at the quarter-finals and so comprised three meaningful ties.

this UEFA fingycup needs to be integrated with the Champions League in a more positive way, but the cartel of big clubs won’t be suggesting that anytime soon. Maybe a promotion relegation format into the following season.

and having to play these thursday night games all season – when a club hasn’t got the financial clout to have its squad cover the domestic game as well on the sunday – I dunno but it seems like a good way of sabotaging a lot of cl dreams.

the champions League is a misnomer anyway for what is essentially a knock-out cup competition. It all needs sorting out and some of those readies should be shared around, but I guess we have to live in the world as it is.
