25 April, 2008 at 8:11 am #311798Granny
Through every nook and every cranny
The wind blew in on poor old Granny
Around her knees, into each ear
(And up nose as well, I fear)All through the night the wind grew worse
It nearly made the vicar curse
The top had fallen off the steeple
Just missing him (and other people)It blew on man, it blew on beast
It blew on nun, it blew on priest
It blew the wig off Auntie Fa/nny-
But most of all, it blew on Granny!Spike Milligan

Drip drip, the tap in my head leaks,
numerous thoughts that just wont cease.
If only it was a case of changing the washer
or tightening up a loose screw.Like any unattended leaky tap
it affects my sleep to the point
where night has replaced day,
and my windows to the soul
resemble bin liners. Each drip grows louder than the last
reverberating in my skull.
So much so that i find myself
singing “i’m going slightly mad”Should i call a number, a
24 hour psycological plumber,
or should i attempt a DIY
repair and risk a massive flood?
thank you cymorill, always like your stuff

25 April, 2008 at 7:48 am #311797On Seeing the Elgin Marbles for the First Time
My spirit is too weak; mortality
Weighs heavily on me like unwilling sleep,
And each imagined pinnacle and steep
Of godlike hardship tells me I must die
Like a sick eagle looking at the sky.
Yet ’tis a gentle luxury to weep,
That I have not the cloudy winds to keep
Fresh for the opening of the morning’s eye.
Such dim-conceived glories of the brain
Bring round the heart an indescribable feud;
So do these wonders a most dizzy pain,
That mingles Grecian grandeur with the rude
Wasting of old Time -with a billowy main,
A sun, a shadow of a magnitude.John Keats

nice, real nice.
yeah ub40 deserve to be on propa reggae………they released that intentional album of cover songs, then hired private tecs to go to jamaica and track down as many of the original musicians as possible….
(reggae history also about the talented getting ripped-off)
then they made sure that anyone still alive got their well-deserved royalties. Didn’t the original singer of ‘Kingstown Town’ get to buy his own house because of that ? Big respect on the island for them……
thank you cath
