    As someone once said….

Dont care much for the police. Remember years ago when i was walking home from the pub seeing a woman get knocked off her bike by a car, so i ran to the phonebox and called the emergency services.

As i was walking back to the scene i saw the woman get up, dust herself down and pedal off in to the night frantically. The car driver checked his car, got back in and drove off.

Before i could get back to the phone box the police arrived and i was the only one there, they done me for being drunk and disorderly and wasting police time.

In a word – no. I don’t want to generalise, but the police do tend to employ idiots.

some time ago i had a guy on my door step hassling me …….i was scared, he had his foot in the door so i couldn’t shut it………i called the police and while i was talking to them this guy decided it was time he scarpered…….because the guy had gone the police said they weren’t prepared to come out……if i hadn’t been so scared and wasn’t shaking so much i would have told them that he was drink driving……. thats the only reason he had gone ……….he didn’t want to be caught….

there have been a coulpe of times where i have needed help from the police and quite honestly they have let me down big time.

Isn’t the real question what are we going to do to change our society in order that we have no need for armed police?

ian i agree with that idea but can you honestly say that society will get better or should i say the attitude of people will get better?………..it’s very stressful out there……..people are losing their jobs, benefits are being cut, prices are increasing which makes for a society of disgruntled people………..lets face it robbing peter to pay paul every day is so demoralising

    I agree.

I got pulled over by the police once. They asked me to step out the car.

I did. They told me I was driving with my front fog lamps on.

I pointed to the front of my car and politely informed them I do not have any front fog lamps.

The fat cop said I’d best be on my way else he’d find something wrong with my car.

I went, but had to laugh as they had failed to notice the front headlamp was out.

    Doh!

Tinks I totally agree with the points you make regarding the current stresses we face.

However what I wanted people to consider is that the level to which we arm our police force only reflect back at us how stressful that is, but the police cannot change it. It is actually us who can by either our actions on a local and community level and on a greater scale by changing our politicians (who I think are currently self serving charlatans irrespective of which ever party they are in).

Personally I want to see a “No Vote” option on all ballot papers in order that it is clear how disillusioned we are with them and it is not that we are apathetic about politics. Mind you politicians probably wouldn’t wouldn’t approve my preferred phrase of ” None of the above deserve my vote”

Brill idea Ian – I’ll vote for both options!

    Tom

Unfortunately, we may have to arm our police.

With police officers being shot at and having grenades thrown at them – this really is a sign of the times.

Especially with the immigrant element of crime now, we’re getting African and Asian gangs armed to the teeth invading Britain.

Our police need firepower to fight back.
