Scep this morning, was reading poetry from one of his favourite poets and he didn’t even recognise or understand it, and he’s a bright guy. It’s all about expression and interpretation.

ahem, in the interests of literary accuracy,

it wasn’t a quotation from Wallace Stevens’s poetry.

It was from an essay called The Sacred Rider.

    Prose , not poetry

I googled it, as advised by somebody.

Not that I would necessarily recognise many poems of his – he did write rather a lot.

But I find his prose pretty unreadable.

I did ask whether you’d read any books by Helen Vendler.

If you do actually like Stevens, I have a dvd of 1 hour on his work, seen biographically. It contains a lot of historical footage of Stevens himself, and awesome appearances by the magnificent poet, James Merrill,

Sorry for the interruption. You and Tokyo Rose (the star of many a John Wayne war movie form my childhood – “Hey Joe, what your girlfriend doing, seeing some other Joe while you are here? Why not give in? lots of pretty women here waiting for you, love you lo-o-ng time)  carry on.

    ahem

in the interests of literary accuracy,

The Noble Rider and the Sound of Words.

    Just checked on google.

So sorry – I am tired, and not familiar with the prose.

I hope she doesn’t mind me saying, but the name and the pic was very sleazy and tacky. Probably a fire engine red nail varnish kinda Geisha gal.

Nokimura, well done for removing the photo x
