You were wrong about the quote. I gave a quotation from an interview given by Ismail Haniyeh to Haaretz in late May of this year. You also overlook the fact that the quote by Rantisi is 2 years old and Rantisi was assasinated quite a while ago. He was a former leader but Haniyeh is the current leader of the Hamas government. What it does prove, however, is that even back in 2004 there were signs of a willingness to compromise by Hamas. So the quote only undermines your point even further.

As for drivel’s remark, the West Bank and East Jerusalem are not recognized as being part of the state of Israel. Legally speaking, the only people with a legitimate claim to the West Bank are the Palestinians, so they are the rightful owners. You probably think that Israel is entitled to keep the West Bank but your opinion doesn’t matter because the law says that they’re not.

So Mr B – apart from quibbling about the origin of quotes, you seem to have accepted the main thrust of the arguments deployed against you – which is refreshing to say the least.

All the while that Hamas run the show on behalf of the Palestinians, bombings, shootings and rocket attacks will continue because they really WANT to fight their Jihad against the Israelis; they only want an Islamic state and will NOT accept that Moslem and Zionist can live side by side.

They are a terrorist organisation, with terrorist aims, pursued by means of terrorism.

The only thing I’m accepting is that you keep getting your facts wrong and if you check back through your recent posts you’ll see that you’ve had to backtrack on the comments you’ve made.

As for the idea of militants being fuelled simply by Islamic extremism and a fanatical desire to wage jihad against the Jews, how do you explain the Christian and secular militants? Also you keep saying that Hamas will never accept a 2 state solution when quotes from the Hamas leadership suggest otherwise.

As I said before, the term terrorism could equally apply to some of the actions of the Israeli government. If you disagree then point out to me what the difference is. I know for sure that you will avoid the question because you know that there is no difference in the atrocities carried out by the IDF and those carried out by Hamas except for the fact that the IDF can do it on a larger scale and more frequently.

    Mr Big
Might as well talk to a brick wall as trying to get any sense out of supporters of a murderous regime, of Zionist scum.

Israel has a mandate to exist but it has no right to the Occupied territories. I have no problem with Israel apart from its actions towards the palestinians. I believe in a 2 state solution and because there is already such a symbiosis between Israelis and Palestinians, I can envisage a day in the very distant future when Palestinians and Israelis live together peacefully in a unified state. Of course, there has to be 2 established states before there can be a unified state and that’s the first step.

My solution for the Israel Palestinian conflict is for a Chinese military occupation of the area. NOBODY would argue with the Chinese military!!!!

On a more serious note, there are two populations who both claim the same land and will not live peacefully together. Yet neither Jews nor Arabs (mainly muslim) were the original occupants, both lots moved in, squeezing out the Phoenicians.

Phoenicians originated from Lebanon or Syria. The Canaanites lived in ancient Palestine. The 2 areas overlap but I think Phoenicians are considered ancient Lebanese rather than ancient Palestinian. I think the Canaanites mixed with the later inhabitants and so it does make sense to say that the Palestinians descended from the original inhabitants.

Either way, the law is clear in the fact that Israel has no legitimate claim to the occupied territories. So even if you don’t think the Palestinians are the original inhabitants it doesn’t change the fact that Israel shouldn’t be in the West Bank.

…… and yet Mr B , there they are – and there they stay. Anyway if they left the West Bank, it would then provide another base from which the Hamas terrorists could launch even more Quassam rockets at them.

Of course Hamas would have to claim that they were provoked into killing women and babies, but then they are pretty experienced at using this justification for terrorist murder already.
