We’ve had threads on pushing where you live,

and a request by Linda before she came here asking for places to visit,

but this is devoted to where your favourite places are? Where do you like to spend time?

My favourite place – I think – is Holy island and its surrounds.

I used to visit there a lot, but now it’s so far away!!!

The air was really clean, and there was a real sense of isolation. A smallish village, some cafes, a hostel, a castle and Lindisfarne, the 7th century Church.

The island is cut off from the mainland, connected by a narrow causeway called The Snook. You have to be careful, as the sea covers the causeway and drowns you if you’re caught. A lot of American tourists get caught there and a helicopter usually lifts them off the car roof. In the war US GIs did get drowned, I believe.

I love walking beyond the castle (now unfortunately converted into a wealthy home) to where the island just out into the sea.

Eilean Shona, its a small island off the west coast of Scotland. If you really want to get away from the rat race its perfect. You park up on mainland and get a boat over, Loch Moidart. There is no internet signal nor mobile phone signal. No TV’s. Its great if you have dogs, no roads, no sheep, no leads required. Great wild life, pine martins, seals, lovely walks, it has a lovely coast and beaches, also wooded area’s  I love it.

I thought Yorkshire had he best chipper in the country?

    Bridlington, I think.

Or maybe that’s just Yorkshire boasting. They have to have the best of everything lol

Devoke Water in the Lakes is one of my favourite places and the views are some of the best in the world, never mind just Britain. Off the beaten track and so not inundated with tourists and the rambling brigade. We stumbled upon it be accident after staying in a hideaway cottage near by and the owner sugested it. Breathe taking the first time I saw it because it was on my bucket list of things to do and I still remember sitting down and just enjoying it many many years later.

Oh and in my time I have had fish and chips on the seafront all over the UK. Something about the sea air, the warm sun on your back and just sitting idly watching the world go by with a full stomach and a can of Coke, lol.

    :good:

    So whereabouts is this?

    Which village is it near?

The Lakes is a big place, and I grew up on its edges. As a family, we wnt there a lot, but I’ve not heard of this?

I know, I should google it.
