When I started posting on the boards a vile chatter called Ge= Gerry decided to rant against me. I did fight fire with fire and he gave up. I dont feel any satisfaction in name calling but he was the main number in the chat rooms who was being vile to me AND OTHERS. Now guests are banned realtime hatred and spamming has disappeared immediately.
Good riddance to people like Ge=Gerry

it wasn’t just LD, blame me, I was the final one to email Martin and request the banning of guests and it was done.
This is because I have better things to do on here like run a quiz, the other night i got called into forum one to go and deal with a spammer and spent over an hour wasting my time, the more i banned them the more they came back as another number.
I myself am glad that the guests have gone, lets try and get the site back to the great site it used to be when i first joined.

Everyone was a guest back then, the chat didn’t have registered accounts.
This has to be one of the dumbest decisions this site has ever made.

You’re just the type of chatter we love have in our community. You are never really offensive yet moan constantly how awful the site is yet continue to use it! I like that you don’t do anything bad enough to be banned but help make up the numbers.

Rather than keeping this site open out of charity and nothing else and for a majority of people who don’t appreciate that contribution of time and money, close it once and for all and let those people find somewhere else, that will tolerate them and that meets their many needs and where they can whine about the new site to their heart’s content.

Now now Gerry there are a lot of people who that like to come and chat for many different reasons, so let’s try and be a bit more positive. No chat room is perfect but at least now those low life abusers won’t be able to spill their vile comments. Let’s hope some of the old chatters will read the boards and feel more comfortable about coming in for a chat like they used to.
Out of interest – what are you going to do to stop those with registered names from spouting unfounded lies and constant abuse?
Unfounded lies are what chatrooms survive on, I mean gossip is a bit like an Ariston it goes on and on and on!
As for constant abuse there will be none now as those that partake in such activities will be banned and have to pay a tenner to come back time and time again. Might be a bit expensive don’t you think?

This is a mistake and I hope the guests will return soon.
The main issue is without a “free try before you buy” option no new members will join the site. In time numbers of members will drop due to lack of interest. Everyone loves a good troll and without them this site turns into” mumsnet “.
And lets think about the spam issue for a second.
Spam only effects the guests and forum 1.
Spam only stops guests from using forum 1.
If forum 1 becomes impossible to use members just move to another forum.
Spam is being placed in forum 1 by long term users or members. Not the person who’s just stumble on the site for the first time.
I’ve always said forum 1 needs to be guests only. (No members with their endless baggage and arguments going back years over silly things. )
Can we please turn forum one back into the mad, funny, and chaotic place we all fell in love with it once was?

I totally agree. Of course I was taking the piss out of those who didn’t pay £10 for their IDs and who have never volunteered to MOD the abuse while donating their valuable free time of course and who as you quite rightly point out are serial moaners.

…and I hope Ge= Gerry will curtail his vile ranting behaviour that’s he’s followed as a number/numbers in f1 and more so in the boards. He seemed to be a bit more civil in the room today as his alter ego of Kingarfer = Gerry. Carry on the good development Gerry/Merlin/Kingarfer.
