I wouldn’t give a penny to the RSPCA

Have to disagree with you Milky, The RSPCA destroys nearly half the animals it rescues each year, with thousands being put down for non-medical reasons. The animal-welfare charity destroyed 53,000 animals last year and they still use the old barbaric bolt gun to kill these poor animals as its cheaper than injecting them. We have had many dealing with this charity and evidence of its lack of care in the welfare of animals. They should be stripped of their ROYAL label. Thankfully with charities like the Draconian dog act the RSPCA have been exposed for cases of neglect, blatant lies and cruelty and not enough on finding new homes for animals, also turning a blind eye when the worse cases of animal cruelty has been reported to them! Thank god for whistle blowers !

Destroying 53.000 animals in just one year… just goes to show what society we live in.

So where do you think all these animals that are being put down come from?
The problem here Sophia, isn’t the RSPCA, it’s the people who mistreat and abandon the animals, as the majority of animals that end up in these shelters is due to that; only a very small minority end up in them  due to their owners dying/being too ill to take care of them.

It’s not compulsary to keep a dog/cat/ whatever. I believe that when you decide to keep one, it’s for keeps; animals are not ornaments or trends; they are living beings.

I’ve been around animals for most of my life, I’ve seen it all.

Stupid parents buying kids puppies for Christmas ( yes stupid, because only a stupid parent would buy a kid a dog for Chritmas as we all know that puppies grow into adult dogs and usually live anywhere between 10/ 18 yrs depending on the breed and the majority of kids tire of the dog once it grows up and hence gets brought to the shelter, abandoned, etc.)

    Then there’s the trends…

First it was Rottweilers, then it was Dobermanns, now its Staffies, Pitbulls …. and most of the time these poor dogs end up in the wrong hands, hence accidents that happen re kids being mauled, people attacked, etc.

And then there’s couples who split;  neither one or the other wants to keep the animal, as they either see it as something  that would tie them down as now they’re single and ready to mingle again…or it would only bring them back memories of when they were a happy couple.

So basically you should be putting the blame on these people, not the associations, as funds are not infinite…and neither are the spaces where these animals  can be kept.

The RSPCA is simply a moneymaking machine for its executive officers. the boss alone receives £160,000 PA. I’d rather burn twenty pound notes than give a penny to the RSPCA. They have a long history of abusing their powers .Once upon a times charities were run by volunteers and directed by committees of unpaid men and women with sense of public duty . For every pound you donate 97% will be trousered  by the suits! Genuine animal welfare is the last thing on their collective minds… They are the ultimate bottom feeders.

    You’re missing the point.

Bloss, the RSPCA are spending less time trying to rehome these animals, they simply destroy them.  they need to give up their political agenda. We had our day in court with this so called charity we exposed them for the lies and one of the worse cases of animal cruelty which they let happen. Its not about people being responsible pet owners. Many other animal charities don’t destroy cats or dogs,   its about a greedy charity that needs to be abolished.  The RSPCA whose website home page is one huge advert in large print screaming ‘Help Save Animals Today Donate Now’ God help anyone who offers to donate, they will knock on ur door, phone you, send you begging letters then sell your details on to other charities.  These charities are only able to get away with it because they have convinced the public that when money-making is for a good cause, rather than a commercial enterprise.  I do agree with one thing you mentioned Bloss and that’s irresponsible parents giving in to children asking for a cat or dog, but that’s another story.

No Sophia, these charities only get away with it due to the people who mistreat/abandon the animals.

They are the root of the problem.

The bottom line still is ……where do  these 53.000 dogs that are being put down come from?

They surely don’t just fall from trees, do they?

Bloss, im not missing any point, you are!

No, you are, as if so many animals werent being mistreated/abandoned, such big enterprises wouldn’t exist !

It’s a bit like prostitution : If there was no market for them ,  would they exist?

The simple answer is no, as with any other enterprise.

Oh yeah it’s a really good comparison, abandoned pets being compared to prostitutes.  :good:

People mistreating animals is a completely different topic, its like saying ‘if people didn’t abuse kids there would be no need to have kid helplines and charities !!!  NEVER GONNA HAPPEN, unfortunately

In my opinion Sophie was disclosing the fact that , unlike other animal charities, the RSPCA is profit making and making its directors rich ! of course funds aren’t infinite, but there would be more funds for the animals if the fat cats at the top took a pay cut !!

I set up a direct debit to the RSPCA a year or so back, I think it was  £10 a month, not a vast amount but £120 a year is not to be sniffed at, after about 3 months the phone calls started, basically asking to increase my subscription, I declined, they phoned again and again and again, despite me asking them not to call again, even threatening to cancel my subscription,  e mails with graphic photo’s, obviously intended to instil guilt and use emotional blackmail, it was upsetting but had the reverse effect because I was livid that they were still using these tactics to get money out of someone already contributing, for all they knew I could have been hard up and struggling, so I’m afraid I cancelled my subscription and now donate to local animal charities who really do struggle and rely on people helping out.

The topic isn’t about, cruel, misguided, irresponsible people, parents  etc etc , that will always be there, its about the RSPCA specifically, or that’s what Sophie meant anyway, don’t turn it into a ‘ how do we fix humans’ thread fgs !!

Sophie I hope I’ve got that right anyway lol

I realise this thread has taken a swerve ball since it started but felt the need to speak up before you, blossom, turn it  into a chapter of ‘The World According To Blossom Thread’ ……yet again
