To be slightly serious for a moment Cath, I was fat once as well. I weighed 18 1/2 stone but luckily at 6’3” it didn’t show up too much and playing Rugby every week kept it sort of under control. When I stopped playing at 51 I put on a bit more weight and got quite porky.

It was when I looked closely at photos of myself in a swimming costume I realised that I needed a good few swipes with a bacon slicer. So I resolved to get myself back into a sensible shape. It is actually really easy. You simply eat less. That’s all there is to it.

forget about faddy diest. forget about calorie controlled foods, weight watchers, pille, potions, injections and all that rubbish. You simply only eat as much as your body can consume by the next meal time.

So I don’t eat breakfast, small snack for lunch (when I can be bothered) and one course for supper. Works for me. it’s all down to how strong minded you are. Mind over burger as it were.

Now I am down to a more sensible 13 stone and have been for several years.

To be fair to fastcars, he hasn’t mentioned females in the context of fat people and yet it seems to be primarily females who have reacted somewhat badly to the subject matter. He most certainly wasn’t alluding to any particular person that I could see anyway – just making a general point.

How about we all adopt a more reasoned approach to this subject and clamber off our high horses (albeit with difficulty).

Surely his central point is that obese people (male AND female) are not as physically attractive as well proportioned people? They are medically at risk from high blood pressure, cardio vascular problems, diabetes, respiratory issues and so on and so forth.

They consume more than their fair share of food resources by stuffing their chubby chops with an endless stream of burgers, pies, cream cakes, deep fried Mars bars, etc. They often belch and fart horribly due to the aforementioned dietary excesses, and the bath floods over when they get into it – assuming that they are able to that is.

Why do you think that the nursery rhyme was created ….. “Roly Poly pudding & pie, kissed the girls and made them cry”.

Don’t you think that these are the issues that fastcars was pointing at?

Cas – as I recall from the first time that Prince Charles floated this so-called idea, it was eventually passed off as him having a tree-hugger’s moment. He had obviously just been talking with the plants in his kitchen garden and fretting about the environment, and then came out with this rubbish.

Bottom line is, in spite of all his public agonising, he ain’t going to have any choice in his hereditary title. It is conferred on him by the Established Church and if he faffs around with tradition he will get a good slapping from the establishment.

The bottom line here is that whether the New Labour apologists like it or not, and whether the multiculturalists get over excited about it or not – this country is still a ‘Protestant’ country; the Established Church is the Church of England (or Anglicans if you prefer); and the reigning Monarch is still its titular head. The Act of Succession STILL prevents the monarch from marrying a Roman Catholic and in spite of all the moaning and groaning from the Pope and his mates, this will undoubtedly continue well into the next Century

With great respect Cas – Prince Charles did the ‘Defender of Faith” bit some years ago, and caused the inevitable squeals of outrage from the usual suspects.

The muslim teacher DID get interviewed without her full face covering and DID adopt it some considerable time after she took up her teaching appointment.

Is this simply her being disingenuous or did she get pressured into it by (male) family members, or maybe she found her God later on???

If it is acceptable to wear a full face covering to teach children, then why don’t all teachers wear Balaclava helmets???

“Council engineers won an order to evict him so they could carry out emergency repairs to make the property safe.”

Why should they do that ffs ???? How about simply leaving it to collapse on top of him, thus fulfilling two objectives.

Firstly, the property becomes ”safe” by virtue of having collapsed and secondly it would save the cost of burying him. Typical Local Authority busybodies …. always interfering in other people’s business.
