Not fooled by New BNP either.
BTW they should be called the ”BAP” (British Autistic Party).

I didn’t start this thread and I didn’t make the remarks that you found so offensive. I have tried to defuse the issue with a bit of humour, if that wasn’t successful then I’m sorry.
Would you prefer that the whole thread is deleted and we can all just move on??????

The bottom line here is that whether the New Labour apologists like it or not, and whether the multiculturalists get over excited about it or not – this country is still a ‘Protestant’ country; the Established Church is the Church of England (or Anglicans if you prefer); and the reigning Monarch is still its titular head.I believe the majority of people who regularly attend church are Roman Catholic, and with the influx of Eastern Europeans this figure has been substantially bolstered.
However, churchgoers are a minority in the UK and merit no political sway.
Yes I totally agree with you. The Roman Catholic church seems to have a much greater attendance across all age groups than the Protestant churches.
It’s interesting however, that although C of E attenders are pretty uncommitted to their church, in terms of regular church going that is, they are heavily represented by the Lord Bishops in the House of Lords.

29 October, 2006 at 12:17 am #246785I believe it is 2.00am NOT 1.30am when the clocks officially go back.
But wake him up anyway and ask him what the time is. He’ll be half asleep and totally confused. Tell him that you’re not sure whether it’s Sunday or Monday and should you set the alarm.
He’s just going to love this

I take my hat of to PB, if it is true (which I very much doubt), I think he is a bit worried that the most loveable member of this forum may be thinking of leaving and I think he has had to think on his feet cos his mate aint here tonight.
Well to be fair, I had no idea that Cath was overweight, and I suspect that nobody else knew either. However, having been there myself, I can empathise with her feelings.
Mind you there is one bloody great big problem with losing weight. My waist used to be 44” – now it’s 38”. This means that all my trousers fell down all the time and it cost me a few bob to have them all taken in.
This really works as an incentive because if I put weight on again, they can’t let them out again and I am far too mean to go out and buy new ones.

sometimes it isn’t down to eating its down to medication …… :?
know for a fact steroids can put weight on you ,
Absolutely correct – and i really wish that the medical profession would make this a lot clearer to patients when prescribing them.I took a course of steroids a long time ago to get over a Rugby injury and I was horrified at the rate at which I put on ”bulk”. I very rapidly stopped taking them I can tell you.
29 October, 2006 at 12:01 am #246520I should add that I don’t cut out so-called ”bad” foods. I only use vedegetable oil for cooking (I used to love beef dripping for example); I always grill stuff rather than fry it. In fairness I don’t eat much potato but pasta seems to be OK. I love roats beef, lamb ,pork with crackling etc but if i am making a casserole i trim the meat well.
Oh and the big one. I never ”snack” between meals. Chocolate only rarely (plain not milk), and sweets – never.
As I say without making too much effort I can eat practically anything I want to, but within reason. Occasionally I will even treat myself to a fat boys breakfast at the local cafe. You know, the fried bread, 3 fried eggs, bacon, bubble, baked beans, bacon etc – as much as they can get on the plate. Mmmmmmm love it. But not more that a couple of times a month.
