If he refused the fee do you think the BBC would donate it to CIN? I very much doubt it, Therefore CIN would not gain by the refusal.
However if he accepts the said fee and furthermore donates to CIN whether the whole amount or just a portion They do gain.
People assume they know everything when in reality they have no idea.

    Exactly.

We have no bliddy idea what happened so why are some people bitching about it?

OK I’m confused here…I didn’t see the Newsnight programme but as I understand it they didn’t actually name Lord McAlpine, they simply said a senior Tory figure…so why do they have to pay him compensation? Am I missing something? :?

    No you’re not missing anything.

It’s the new digital age. Evidently we all have to be more careful.

The BBC did a piece about “a senior Tory”, then a couple of people said that the BBC had done a piece about Lord McAlpine. On their own none of these statements was libellous. It was held however, in this day and age with social networking, to be reckless at the very least.

Then other people predictably tweeted that he was (according to their incorrect information) indeed a culprit. That’s why he’s going after hundreds of people.

I should just make it clear that I understand that the BBC made several mistakes in investigating Lord McAlpine and the claims were therefore false. I aint having anyone sue me!

The long and winding posts that makes it all a bore.

Fairy nuff my furry friend, but no-one’s tying you to the keyboard to read em.

I try to split my long uns up so that people can choose to read little bits if they want. probably don’t do too well at that, but hey…..

    Much love.

It doesn’t offend. Some posts are just too long to read so puts me off replying.

    Perhaps that’s a good thing.

I know Rusty is guilty of that but I do read his posts as I find them interesting, however I have a short attention span so I forget what I want to reply to some of the points in the beginning…what does get on my wick is the constant quoting and re quoting….I wish some would cut it down

I was going to write an answer to your post but I couldn’t be arsed reading to the end of the paragraph.

Yeah – my posts are too long, I know, so I can’t criticise others (well not all the time anyway).

Racism is a subject that puts wordsworth in his element.

He sits on his imaginary stool in front of an imaginary log fire and looks at the clay pipe he’s taken from the mantelpiece. Putting it in his mouth, he gazes at the disciples sitting at his feet.

“Lord wordsworth..please tell us how we can be like you and achieve your righteousness”

The followers gathered there gaze up in wondrous admiration at their learned leader….

Terry has images in his head of me being admired by disciples while bathed in a warm, fiery glow and looking at a clay pipe . . . . . .

Yes, but I’m not allowed to be sarcastic anymore or it will upset PC Kenty. #-o

Not sure that anyone has called you for not being PC Terry – it seems that they do it when they think you are being unfair or offensive.

We are all called when people disagree with us or think we are being unfair. That’s nothing to do with political correctness.

At this time of year (since 1980 and the birth of Children in Need), Mr Wogan gets to take home a nice little earner for presenting the programme. That’ll be £10,000 he could (but won’t) donate to the charity.

I take it that you donated this months pay to CIN but you are just too modest to crow about it.

    Deep respect, Tel.
