This is the compensation received by the victims of the July 7 bombings with some guidelines and “prices” on other compensation (for fingers, ears etc).

I find it nothing short of a national disgrace that these people can sell their stories to the highest bidder as if on ebay. And what we get is MoD guided (each of those who sold the stories has an MoD press officer at all interviews), government spun story which actually leads us no nearer the truth of what happened. Example?

Girl soldier (dont know her name, sorry)- I was stripped and feared I would be raped

Iranian story- captives were given new clean clothes

Fact- The captives were given new clean clothes
Fact- They would have taken their old clothes off to put new ones on

If they wanted to TELL their stories, then fine but to sell them within 3 days of being released says something about the society we live in- it also sends out the entirely wrong message to other nations.

Perhaps Im a cynical old bar steward

Interestingly Ive just read the MoD have suspended the story selling until a “review” takes place-

Go back to Iran, commie, and stop slagging off our soldiers who fight for the very freedoms you spit on!

Ofcourse they should be allowed to sell their story. It happened to them, it’s their right to. If it’ll help ease their pain and get compensation they otherwise wouldn’t, then, good for them! 8)

It’s better a brave soldier who survived being captured by evil soldiers getting paid for their story, rather than some accountant clerk who filled out an application form to go on some stupid reality TV show getting paid for their story – Is it not?

    Getting addled with age Tommy

Point out to me ONE single remark I made which slagged off the soldiers- I criticised the government for turning this into an auction (even though it was at the Navy’s suggestion, which I DIDNT mention)

I compared the materialistic society we live in to the individual decision to sell their story, RATHER than tell it, within 3 days of being released which was utterly insensitive to those families who had had relatives die in Iraq.

Of which Tommy, I havent heard one family who has had someone die support the decision to sell the stories- perhaps they are commies too and should “Go back to Iraq”

It is entirely and morally, politically, globally and militarily wrong (and thankfully the government have realised this) to allow these people to SELL their story as if in a cattle market. Telling their story is one thing, selling it is grossly insensitive to those who have died out there

The beastly French should apologise to us for their unprovoked invasion in 1066.

As a direct result of William the Conqueror, our decent and pure Anglo-Saxon bloodlines have become tainted with horrid French / Hugenot blood – to the detriment of all the generations that followed this criminal act.

Bugger the ‘entente cordiale’ and bugger all Frenchmen.

    simple really

Anyone (football or otherwise) who is convicted abroad of ANY criminal offence loses their passport for 20 years.

It would be very sobering for a multitude of twenty somethings to suddenly find they can’t leave this country until they’re in their 40’s.

    Trust me, it would work.

What about the hooligans who live in these countries?

Oss, the liberals who run our country describe hooliganism as the English disease, so naturally a foreign copper aint going to take any chances. They were wrong.

My reply was about ANY offence (football or otherwise) abroad.

In this country, we should birch anyone convicted of a football related offence, have a minimum fine of £10,000 (which is paid through loss of assets, including your house) and minimum 2 years in jail.

Football violence can easily be stopped for the vast vast majority if people are scared of the consequences. A slap on the wrist and a community service does feck all to deter anyone

The war in Iraq happened due to a lie about WMD’s. Hitler staged a bomb attack to get the publics backing to wage war.

There are no dont know answers in this one, do you believe, or dont you?

Hitler staged a bomb attack to get the public’s backing? Emma, you must be on the magic mushrooms again

Errr, jus because someone from a particular religion practises something which is not written down in that religion, goes totally against the teachings of that religion does not therefore mean it is part of that culture or that religion

IF it did, paedophilia would be an integral part of catholicism based upon the child abuse inflicted by catholic priests.

The behavious you describe in remote parts of Iran (the parts where people dont go and are sparsely populated as opposed to the populous parts where this does not occur) or any other part of the world is about male domination, subjugation and oppression..and it occurs in all cultures, whether you dress it up as social bahviour, religion or unevolved thinking, the song always remains the same.

Actually Uber, these occur in very backward or extreme parts of the world which use Islam as a tool to subjugate women and gain power. The vast majority of the mainstream Muslim world have no more time for these inbreds than we do and see them as an embarassment to their faith.

Of course, us Christians would never use religion as a weapon against each other (the last 2,000 years excepted natch)- ffs, we christians murdered another 6 millions fellow christians less than 70 years ago because of their faith. And of course, the catholic churches refusal to allow birth control is naturally designed to ensure women receive equal rights to men- NOT! Just because “our” church is more insidious in its oppression doesnt make it any less vile.
