Yet I understand himi easily… on pointing out it was nothing to do with his accent, it was because he mumbled…He called my a thick english coont ( to use sunnys expression) :!: :!: I was rather proud of this as my name clearly displays my gaelic origin….All I can say is… Jesus how thick are the paddys !!!!!! and aren’t I glad Im not one…(well atleast in his eyes !!!)

    Simple really

St Paddy’s day is celebrated throughout the world cos only 5% of the Irish actually live in Ireland- the rest live all over the globe.

Secondly St Paddy was never highjacked by any nationalist racist organisation like St George n his flag were.

Thirdly, St Paddy actually is, in history, relative to Ireland. St George was a palestinian Roman soldier ffs!

Finally and finally, the “English” identity is intwined with the UK identity as the predominant partner (which is why we sing God save the Queen at English football matches!) whereas the 3 (4 with the Republic) main components of the Uk, Wales, Scotland and NI have had to fight to retain and promote their own individual identity.

and finally, finally and finally- the Irish like to drink but then don’t proceed to destroy anything or everything which looks, talks or appears to be foreign- they jus get pished and are happy

Should we invent a new word- “Emmaspeak”

Firstly Emma, this was first posted last Tuesday and secondly I can’t be ar/sed to argue all points with you but on your first two points

81% of Muslims condemn violence COMPARED to 72% of the general public i.e. Muslims (in this poll) were more law abiding than the general public.

74% were loyal to the UK COMPARED to only 45% of the general public- thats right EMMA Muslims are much much more loyal to the UK than most others.

Spin it how you want Emma

Why is the word Pa*ki banned from use on the JC message boards.. :?:

We are allowed to call the Welsh… sheep shaggers… the Scotts… sweaty socks…. We may call French citizens … Frogs…. and to describe the Germans we can type the name Kraut without it automatically changing to something more subtle. Call a Hispnaic a Spic if you like or a Chinese a Chink but if you dare call a person of Pakistani origin a “Pa*ki” its hand slapping time.

    WHY… :?:

Why is this minority group afforded special treatment on the JC message boards that other nations are not.. :?:

Actually Fast, you indirectly raise a very good point.

When does a word become offensive or derogatory and to who does it have to be derogatory to be offensive.

You would not (I assume) use the word nig*er as it offends most people, no matter what their colour.

Most Germans despair and are annoyed with the continuing British obsession with the war (hence the “Kraut” name)- just because you do not find it offensive and indeed, along with most English males, will probably find it mildly amusing, a laugh or a joke, inoffensive (that is inoffensive to the user not the recipient), in fact it reminds me of Basil Fawlty (“don’t mention the war”). BUT if Germans find it offensive, at what point do we look at ourselves and instead of blaming others for finding it offensive, perhaps we should view our own narrow minded attitudes and xenophobia.

So using words like “sheep shagger” (which incidentally is used as a very derogatory term for Derby county fans so why ishouldnt it be derogatory when describing the welsh) or “chink” (I assume from the narrow eyes …”chinks” of light etc, maybe not?) or Spic actually can be just as offensive to those who view them and are of that race etc.

And yes, I can eb as guilty as anyone of this but my point is, perhaps it is time we looked at what is and isnt offensive to both giver and receiver

Aspects of britishness dont appear in the quran, i.e the consumption of alcohol, having sex with the same sex etc. No such thing as a gay muslim. There are gay people who want to be muslim, muslims who want to be british, but they cant be.

So Emma, your entire blanket denial of any Muslim to be “true British” is based on the fact that their religion doesnt allow them to drink or have gay sex- succintly thereby summarising the entire British character as rum and sodomy!

Using your clearly valuable and correct principles, Methodists cant be “true British” (its the drink you know) nor can Catholics (it’s the sodomy).

The English nation (and thereby the Welsh and Scottish) spent 400 years fighting the catholic cause and Im glad Emma you’ve come out and agreed they should have no place in our society and are not “British”- actually Emma Catholics dont bother me but the argument you use for Muslims is the same argument thats been around for centuries, only the religion changes

A true muslim cannot be british. A true muslim can change what we know as british, to a Islamic version, then they can be described as british muslim. But of course, to do that, they’d have to win WW3.

Explain why (i.e show me the evidence)a “true” muslim cannot be British?

In this country, we should birch anyone convicted of a football related offence, have a minimum fine of £10,000 (which is paid through loss of assets, including your house) and minimum 2 years in jail.

Football violence can easily be stopped for the vast vast majority if people are scared of the consequences. A slap on the wrist and a community service does feck all to deter anyone

I agree with that, but how do we stop hooligans of English clubs who live abroad?

    Now you’re being pedantic

It is not for this country to decide the laws which affect RESIDENTS of other countries but we can set an example and show the way forward for others to follow
