hmm
Interesting post Miss Lush
To play devils advocate though
Are we not living in a “global” economy- with the emphasis on global hence to place Britain first would seem very difficult. We have a very high cost of living compared to other European countries which means the wages need to reflect the level it costs to live in that area.
I heard today the minimum wage will rise to £5.52 ph from october 07. This is putting British people first but makes it difficult to compete in a global market economy. How would we make multi national companies stay in the UK? We can’t legislate them to stay or they wouldnt come in the first place.
I dont have the answer- it’s very sad for the staff at barclay card (although I read they will be paid until October 07 which is but small consolation)

3 March, 2007 at 8:00 pm #262793I think it’s barking to move a business to create “diversity”- I don’t have a problem with diversity, indeed the opposite
we are all human :D

Do u realise that the people who post their holiday plans on here are’nt actually interested in where anybody else is going. They just wanna brag about what “they” are doing.
Very possible, very possibly
N doesnt everyone have the right to brag about where they are going whether it be Skegness, St Tropez or Sydney?

“The decision to move out of Corby is wrong based on diversity”
Tell me where I have said it is right to move away from Corby based on anything other than economic or rationalisation reasons
2 March, 2007 at 10:58 pm #262774Actually Smiley, I even agree with you on this one
On hols in Derbyshire last week in a cottage n TV broke so me n missus Slayer (n lil baby Slayer) had to amuse our selves, read a book, talk to each other- it was probably the most we’d spoken in months (very busy lives n a baby!!)- I’d recommend it to anyone n we have 2 nights a week now TV free (unless footie’s on)
TV is a great leveller n a great subduer of the masses

Emma, are you really taking us back 50 years- bringing up children, making dinner for hubby and being a housewife is what women are best at!!
Im saying, everyone has qualities specific to them, a mother is better at home looking after the family unit, than a father. That doesn’t mean she isnt good enough to work, im a prime example. Men are better at earning the “bread” to feed the kids a mother encourages to eat via love and understanding.
It becomes too much when were encouraged by idiots in power to mass multi task.
If I’d have said that, I have been called a sexist n male chauvanist pig. I actually don’t necessarily disagree with some of your point- society places pressure on women to conform to a certain way but financial pressure also dictates whether a woman works. Some women would prefer not to work but dont have a choice.
Is that twice we’ve agreed now?!?!

IF I had meant WHITES who were born here I would have said just that, but I didnt did I? So why is that what you read? Too much PC brainwashing from birth? To oversensitive to the plight of poor ickle squeaky wheels? Why exactly?
We already have more than enough indigenous people unemployed here that were born here, by slanting employment to people based on right rather than place of birth we create more jobs that will be filled by immigrants leaving the existing residents having to be supported on benefits
The move to Corby will give other British born citizens jobs but will be predominantly of a more diversely cultural back ground. From your statement above, you support the move to Leicester then.
And why do I read what I read- because I’ve seen, heard andf met too many people who cleverly hide their prejudices in rhetoric and divert attention from this by stating everyone else reads too much into it.
N please, I’m a tory of the Thatcher era not a left wing liberal- thanks

I agree with you there ubermik.
Im starting to see and hear females saying, actually, thanks for giving me more of an equal right in the work place, that has given me the chance to further my career, but you were wrong to assume thats the way forward, i now miss my family and wana spend more time with them, bringing my children up, making dinner for my husband, being a housewife is what females are brest at.
The gimick of “blair’s babes” has lasted a long time, now we wait for brown and camerons blag for the floating voter, and in ten years, we’ll explain why it was wrong.
Emma, are you really taking us back 50 years- bringing up children, making dinner for hubby and being a housewife is what women are best at!!
OH, purlease!
Next you’ll be telling me they don’t have the intellect to vote
2 March, 2007 at 8:06 am #262771funny how spin can be made to say what it wants
3p per day per customer is actually really Sky charging Virgin double for the channels, in the knowlegde that Virgin would not pay and in the knowledge that this would cause disattisfcation amongst Virgin customers and whhere will these people go? Some undoubtedly to Sky…very clever indeed
