The be all of this is, that whatever the net contribution and overall cost to the eu is, its too much, and shows that our political masters have yet again failed in their duties to represent the people who put them there via our taxes.
Hmmm £25 Billion dividend!
I could go into a cost benefit analysis here on EU membership (and I am not a lover of the EU at all) but to suggest we would be £25 billion better off simply takes the money we pay and says “ooh, we’ll save that” is wrong
But, should we leave, assuming the EU will grant trade rights to the UK (don’t you belive though that the Germans and French won’t get their own back at us and prevent us from selling goods into the EU thereby shrinking our export market by 50%), there is a 1.5% levy on all free trade non EU imported goods. Yes Emma, 1.5%- which means our goods will not only be taxed but also cost more than they already do.
Our economic growth relies on the EU for between 1%-1.5%- if we lose the that growth, we lose up to 3 million jobs with the obvious decrease in national taxable income and increase in the population claiming any benefit they can. This will cost BILLIONS
The EU is a bureaucratic, anally retentive, obsessive organisation which impacts on all our personal lives through hundreds and hundreds of laws however to suggest we leave because we pay a lot and we could save all that money is just barking

This the same MI5 that said Iraq had WMD?
I am sure there is a risk to our security from extremists Owen but 30 terror plots really reeks of George Orwell’s 1984 and the creation of the submissive society and domination of the proletariat through overt threats to individual welfare and occasional demonstrations of violence. Maybe revisionist history will be next?

The trouble with the BNP (and its a classic Labour soundbite too)- there is no actual policy which underpins the shallow statement. When you look at the detail, they don’t know who would be “asked” to leave or who would stay. What would happen to anyone who has a mixed race (perhaps going back 5 or 6 generations)- how far back do you go into someones ancestry before saying they can stay? How about the French Hugenots who came in the 18th century to escape Catholic persecution- can their ancestors stay?
Emma – is it English or British? The BNP don’t seem to know and neither do you? Southern Irish stay? Whys that then? What have they got that the Danes havent? The Jews are out too I take it as they are not “christian”.
It is so easy to say “voluntary repatriation” but when you try and get any sense under the shallowness, there is none at all cos there is no policy- just a clever propaganda machine
