Can anyone remember the Pirate books? They were part of the Griffin Readers Series by Sheila McCullagh.
Sian, I’ve been trying to remember these details for years ! Roderick the Red, Benjamin the Blue, Gregory the Green…………..what transpires when three pirates all bury their treasure on the same island, like a kids version of the good, the bad and the ugly it was.
And you saunter in all casual like and post the information just like that !
They made such an impression on the young bulldog mind, somewhere along the line my memory has mixed them up with the old black + white Robinson Crusoe programme on tv, dubbed from the French and that theme music……….
I now love you – OFFISHALL
xxWoof ! Woof Woof !!

18 June, 2008 at 10:54 pm #349384during my early twenties I was offered a job working for a company based in a very posh location outside of Manchester. A place that’s all Merc and Porsche dealerships……nowadays populated by ‘Wags’ ? …….Alderley Edge I believe it was. For my first week I had to stay up there for some training. After a couple of evenings forcing down the hotel’s scampi and chips I thought I’d venture into town for something different, and found this really smart Chinese restaurant. I went in, to eat alone for the first time in such an establishment.
I must admit I did feel a bit solitary at my table, surrounded as I was by loving couples holding hands under the low lights, but nonetheless those ribs were bloody nice. Finger-licking gorgeous. I noticed this bowl of water with lemons floating in it, so picked it up and drank the lot, and it was quite refreshing. Then asked for another, returned to my meal, and downed one more bowl of the lemony drink before finishing my dinner. I remember how friendly and smiling the staff were to me. Went back to the hotel and was really missing my girlfriend, so rang from the room for a good long chat at the firms expense.
Now don’t get me wrong……it was very kind of her to inform me as to what a finger-bowl is; but what the hell is the point of having a telephone conversation when the other person has collapsed in laughter ?

18 June, 2008 at 9:59 pm #328727” 54-46 Thats My Number “……..the hugely talented Frederick ‘Toots’ Hibbert, after forming the Maytals, sang a sanctified type of ska that could only have had its origins in a Baptist church. His fiery sound and soul-style ballads were to make the Maytals the premier vocal group of the ska years.
A major force in the history of Jamaican music………..
