that may well be true, and he (martin) does have a responsibility, however do not let your disappointment in him take over from the ACTUAL people responsible for causing the pain, humiliation, manipulation, cruelty, blackmail, etc. Martin does have a responsibility to do what he can as soon as he can to make people safe on his chat site, however, we have a responsibility to ourselves to be careful what we say and to whom, and remember that the vile, lying, manipulative, cruel, controlling, low life, scum, who get a kick out of doing these things are the ones ultimately responsible.

he just ignores his responsibility he lets people post peoples home addresses up and their pics and does nothing he is lucky that no one has killed themselves yet. but if I do I will name him, my house address and my pics have been posted up. I could be murdered. he literally does not care about anyone here.

nasty pics he took of mizzy without her permission two years ago and martin will do nothing about it they will be spammed all over. he has been using the pics he took of her to control and manipulate her and pretending that he was not the one who shared them when she never bared her soul to anyone else. he really thinks he has the better of her. I think he should remember that things don’t always pan out the way you want.

My my my talk about a personality disorder if ever I saw one….take a deep breath
Janey, honistly the woman tells so many fibs she forgets what she says. Tried very hard to involve me in her bloody chatroom problems, i am that thick, i stuck up for her and believed everything she sed. She isn’t the only one to loose a baby but she will use that excuse for ever more to get drunk. She will not listen to anyone and soon turns against them after she’s realised they will only take so much lies. Made a right fool of me by spamming and swearing blind to me that it wasn’t her doing it. Me arguing with Jan and everyone it wasn’t her. What a twat I felt convincing myself she wouldn’t fib to me. Falling out with people all over because of her and her following me on the boards ,saying awful stuff about me. You just live and learn. Personality disorder, try schizoid. She haven’t got the balls to go get help and sort herself out.

Are you not just a drunken illiterate twat who betrays everyone she knows and has no personality loyalty or talent for anything at all? you cannot create anything, you contribute nothing, you feebly attempt to show intelligence through google searches when everyone knows that you are so stupid you cannot even string a sentence together without looking it up first and we all know its a wonder that your children are not in care or have serious mental health issues due to the fact you were totally pissed out of your brain when you dragged them up.
So the person you berate insult and belittle travels and sees the world and tries to better herself whilst you sit and do nothing but judge others and pretend you are better than they are when you know deep down that this is all you are and you will never ever achieve anything or better yourself or be anything other than a pathetic piece of crap looking for validation and friendship in a chatroom. Some people are strong in character and are loyal trustworthy and worth knowing. And some people are like you.

My point was merely to remind that people should try to make the words in the sentence make sense.

I wasn’t writing either a poem or a polished piece of prose. I didn’t check over every word, it was done in a hurry to make a point (or two).
But even so I disagree with your argument that every word has to ‘make sense’.
You’re absolutely right if you’re referring to mixed metaphors. many an undergrad has had fun picking apart Joyce Kilmer’s poem, Trees, and the confusions that result from the constant shifting of meaning in the basic image.
But first, words are ambiguous, have multiple meanings. When Ms Sass uses the word ‘heart’, she’s not actually referring to the heart as an organ in the body. If she were, then it would have struck her as bizarre to talk of the heart listening. but ‘heart’ has many meanings, and Ms Sass is using the word as an image for loving, caring,etc. You restrict the word to only one narrow meaning.
You did the same, by the way, with my use of the word ‘withering’. Of course, machine gun fire from a trench is withering, but the adjective isn’t restricted to one noun. It can be as easily used of the term criticism.
Secondly, why should words necessarily make sense in a poem? I have a friend who is an accomplished artist who knew of my interest in poetry and asked for help in understanding what seemed to be beyond understanding. I said that she should treat the poem as a picture. It doesn’t tell a story, at least not a straight story. It describes its subject-matter through images, not narrative (or can do, there’s no rule even for this). I advised her not to try to make sense of the poem, but to follow the image and let it do the painting. The meaning can emerge at the end, and can be more profound than a simple communication.
Try to read the poem, my father moved through dooms of love, by e.e.cummings, and the words are not clear – not until you suss out what the poet is trying to do.
To quote one of of my fave poets, Basil Bunting,
Can you trace shuttles thrown
like drops from a fountain, spray, mist of spiderlines,
bearing the rainbow, quoits round the draped moon;
shuttles like random dust desert whirlwinds hoy at their tormenting sun?
Follow the clue patiently and you will understand nothing.
And btw cruelty isn’t justified if it’s in response to cruelty, especially when the resulting battle becomes a descent into an endless nastiness which obliterates anything good you’re saying.
Making sense is handy when trying to understand and engage.
Do we stand corrected? No, not really. The point made still stands. If people are only writing for themselves then why bother sharing it in the first place?
