Yes, I’ve been following that.
Not sure how the Labour party is out of touch, though.
I don’t always have time for Jess Phillips, but she seems right there. Christian and Islamic moral rules should remain within the Christian and Islamic communities (provided they don#’t conflict with British laws).

I don’t agree, Linda.
I don’t think they’re characterised by hatred at all.
Self-destruct mechanism – I’m sorry to say that’s what it looks like.
But I’ll say what characterises her poetry another time soon. It’s a different set of emotions than hatred and malice though.
And even if it were hatred. Good poems can be based on hatred – think…[Read more]

That’s not true, thin.
She’s more liked than i am, and I’m not letting that stop me posting.
She has as much right as anyone else to post here.

Go, Sophia!!
Impressive!!!
The British Empire was always nasty, though. Glad it’s gone.

Good that you called a truce.

Me, too.
This whole crisis is breaking up a lot of people. I’ve seen it here on JC, but it’s happening all over. I personally think it’s because the nationalists have successfully used the issue to mobilise a lot of people, and nationalism is very divisive. My opinion.
It’s also caused deep divisions within families. Some families handle it, but…[Read more]

Linda,
she did what she felt to be right, and she gave it her all.
But her régime has been very cruel. The UN have recently singled out the system of social care and benefits for condemnation, apart from anything else.
She’s comfortably off, to say the least. Like Farage, she can retire to greener pastures than many of us.
The job she had to…[Read more]

I was trawling in the arts page for the Eliot writing. I know it’s in your poetry forum as well.
I hate the nastiness on here between you and nem, especially when i get mentioned, but there’s nothing I can do to sop it. I just have to put up with it.
The reason I say this, rather than just keep my big gob shut (and perhaps I should have done…[Read more]

it’s a shame that the two of you have got to this state.
But none of my business.
Dangermousy,
I don’t suppose you remember the name of the thread with your writing on Eliot, by any chance????

I would like to say I don’t like the song
but I can’t.
And it is unfortunately catchy.
A talent wasted on JC.
Perhaps it could grace the opening and closing of the Queen’s Christmas Message?

the man is like q, Linda.
He can#’t handle serious discussion, so he thinks it’s clever to just throw obscene insults around and pretend he knows all.
The poor man’s Jeremy Kyle.

I actually find your post embarrassing when it comes to reasoned argument.
1) The centre ground is being emptied.
What do you think that means?
The centre ground is the middle between a strong hard brexit and a People’s vote.
Mrs disMay held that centre ground. The Labour leadership held that centre ground, though the remain majority was so…[Read more]

drac,
I think it’s a good idea to say what you think how stv is compatible with first past the post.
Everybody else thinks you can either have one or the other, not both.
How do you see us having both??

That’s just the usual swagger and empty accusations.
The link was to John Curtice. I have never sneered at any analysis he makes. he now points to the polarisation between the firm approaches taken by both sides – no-deal brexit versus a People’s Vote. This is a much more accurate analysis than the one given by the BBC of Brexit dominance. The…[Read more]

What a bizarre mind. What a bizarre analysis.
I single out just this little nugget, claiming that the no-deal supporting milky is my protegé
I would rather trust John Curtice, who has established himself as one of the most reliable pollsters in British politics, than Sherlock’s rah-rah games with f…[Read more]
