Is that the Joe Jackson I saw in the Hope and Anchor back in 1977/78??
He was all right, if I remember rightly.
No idea what happened to him.

What have I done to find myself left out, hey?

Drac
Absolutely agree when it comes to tax rates. The poorer will be worse off, according to the first judgements by Tax experts.
I was thinking of the money for the NHS and mental health. It’s not enough, but it’s not nothing.
Also effectively ending the swindling system where fatcats like G4S and Serco to milk the public sector.

An excellent, positive post, Linda. With you, I thank Martin for his response.
I have no idea about how closely martin pays attention. my guess is that he misses some, but I don’t know. As long as he pays some attention.
As QE and Jane stress, we’re adults, not schoolchildren (despite some reactions) requiring constant attention by monitors…[Read more]

Yup, Linda.
Politicians of all stripes are pretty good at those offers.
There are actually sincere politicians but
it’s a dirty game.

And now it seems that all the lies and prejudices that were used to con people into what is likely to turn out to be a major disaster for Britain may have been financed by foreign money. The biggest loan in British political history to convince us that we’re all in the money and work on the lie that the EU is ripping us off.
Crooks and liars…[Read more]

Of course it’s a commercial thing.
Do you have the same approach to Christmas as you had when you were small??
*hesitates to point out the reality of Father Christmas, but I bet your mother accompanied you into Santa’s Grotto. And if she didn’t – then she ought to have done!

Sorry, Ruthless, I wasn’t referring to the PM, but to others in the UK.
Otherwise, you keep losing me. Your satirical style is way too clever for me.
What do you mean by Northern Ireland being in the paid off seats???

linda, Christmas has a nice feel to it, but I was wondering about the smell.
Sweet mince pies are very characteristic of a British Christmas, but do they have a smell?
Pine would be a nice smell, but that must be an American Christmas, I don’t think it’s a Brit Christmas *waits to be corrected, it was never part of my Christmas, anyway.

Also, no matter how big you are, the UK need to mind their manners as they leave, rather than comparing the EU to the Nazis, yammering on about how much money we’re contributing tot the EU budget etc.
Minding your manners is something some people in jc should do, as well, and not just on this thread

I’ve been thinking about this thread, and I suddenly realise that I have a problem.
I’ve forgotten the smell of Christmas.
Maybe Christmas doesn’t have a smell?
I do remember as a kid the incredible excitement as Christmas approached, the feel that there was something different with a lot more people smiling (in my day, in the early medieval…[Read more]

Not the sort of dope who authoritatively posts a link to a group which calls for EU-wide action to stop big companies from polluting the environment.
What are the two of you scare about?
You won. We’re sailing to the wide open yonder of freedom and prosperity.

I love it when politicians are in deep crap (or when an election is on the way).
That’s because I know, I know, that a budget will appear in which it’s revealed that there is the money to help overcome poverty.
And this is just the beginning as we prepare for the bright and prosperous uplands which come with ‘freedom’ f…[Read more]

Yes, well, that’s not telling anybody anything new, is it? We all agree on that..
If you want to stop that, then EU wide measures are needed, as your link advocates.. An isolated Britain will have no impact.

British young people have less need to work in the EU because the UK was the most successful economy in the EU. It was top of the G7 countries in terms of economic growth. If you were French, or particularly Polish, it made a lot of sense to come to Britain, where your skills were in much demand because local Brits couldn’t fill them.
Since the…[Read more]
