Because its annoyed me I’ve been looking online about by home hub security and was shocked see its not that secure and also that our hubs are used as hotspots too it seems also from reading that they only get the hub number that’s like traceable not which device posts something. So like if have 10 devices using your hub all are only shown as the hub number not individual devices
It uses a techology called Network Address Translation (NAT), the router will assign each device attached to it an internal address. When one of the devices connects to the internet, it connects through the router’s external address. The router then matches incomming packets by using the NAT table.
I tried to explain that as simply as I could, but basically it means that all of the internet use on your router looks like its comming from the same machine (Athough there are some ways you can seperate them, most internet browsers will send out the device’s screen resolution with page requests. But that isn’t very reliable as it is easy to spoof, the browser I use always reports the resolution as 0x0).
