The term “we” is not personal, its a collective noun a generalising term, I could have typed the same words, inferring the same thing yet as someone who hasn’t been on an overseas holiday, your post would make no sense, as it doesn’t now.

As I’ve said so many times before, “When in Rome” only applies to “foreigners” here of course and doesnt apply to Brits abroad then- “Do as I say, not as I do” would be more appropriate
